This was my first time at the Joe Nall , I flew all the way from Dominican Republic to Charlotte and then got there driving.

Me and my Buddy had such a great time and we're planning on going next year.

IMO , The best part was Quique and he is such a nice guy also , he flew his yak and Ultimate incredible .

Andy Kane is a very polite and nice guy to talk to, Chip, amazing It was a lot of fun.

The matt chapman show both Rc and full scale, the futaba team with the profiles etc, etc, etc.

Guys Do you know that Quique is going to launch a series of yaks like his, yes there will be three diferent sizes 150cc, 100cc , .120.

The smaller prototype was at the event but he didn't fly it, it is powered with a ys 140 and weights 10lbs, What do you think?

Take care guys,

epc.

I talked a while with Dave Patrick and he too is coming out with an 80" Ultimate for the 80-100cc engines. I was telling him about how much I love his TOC Jungman from a few years ago and he told me he still had it. He offered to sell it too me-- now if I can just about three grand laying around somewhere.... Also talked to Chris from Extreme RC and he is going to have a 65" Ultimate that will bolt right up to my Taurus 3.2. My three favorite memories was
1-Chip Hyde flying at 10 PM a Ohio Models profile while somebody held a spotlight -- very wild and quick just inches off the ground-- lost in the dark a few times, but Chip didn't panic--WOW
2-Warren Thomas taking a potentional buyer up to fly the H9 Ultimate ARF-- after the guy finished Que-Que grabs the buddy box -- hovers very low-- points the nose up into the wind as the wind blows the plane backwards (and quickly I might add) down the runway he is now torque rolling at a fast pace in reverse. The crowd errupts in applause and Warren turns around and waves to the crowd as if it was him.--GOTTA LOVE IT!!!!
3-Wednesday night as the flying they break out the Flight simulator and people start to line up to show off. Eure was there as well as a "few other capable" pilots. Everybody starts to "out do" the next guy as far as outragous stunts. Later on, laying in my tent, you could hear the cheers as as if it were the Super Bowl.

What other aircraft was involved in the mid air with the Carden, and how did they hit?

AJF--2

Did you see Dave Patrick's 40%+- Edge 540T arf ?
I saw it briefly on Friday, but didn't see it fly and couldn't find it again to get a picture of it.

Here is how the four airplanes got there. Wing rack on top, Shoestring rode shotgun. Clothes, drinks, food in the middle.
Will post more pics later.

I sure did. Dave is a very smooth pilot. He is someone that I think would do great at IMAC. I did not see him doing a lot of wild and jerky stuff--or 3D for that matter. Just super smooth, perfect moves--enter perfect-perform the manuouver-exit perfect--fly stright and level after the fact. Things I wish I could do.

[/QUOTE]

I didn't see the actual hit, but looked up when I heard the thud. The other airplane appeared to be a scale or warbird. One of the retracts was hanging beneath the wing, but it appeared to have full control. I focused on the Carden since it basically had no tail, and it looked as if it was out of control. However, Mark turned it towards the runway and made a very controlled landing. Thinking back on the events, the gaping hole in the fuselage was pushed open further due to the wind, which then acted like a vertical stab. So in hindsight, he did have some elevator authority, and some yaw stability. Either way, he didn't panic and 'flew the airplane' as he should have. he deserves the credit.

This should also fuel the argument that you don't need two elevator or aileron halves to fly the airplane, and dual receivers with one failed is still very controllable.

I heard the other plane landed with minimal damage. The other pilot that was involved came over and apologized. Both pilots shrugged it off to 's$!& happens', shook hands, and shared a laugh.
