one of my 1/10th cars has the same issue so i move the trim just to keep it going. i believe if the shaft is replaced the motor will work again. but most of the 1/18th motors i have don't come apart.

ya this motor doesnt come apart. and im really not all that worried now i was thinking about it, the motor was 10 bucks and the way i see it is you get what you pay for. I just forund it odd that it happened. I have brushless motors in 5 of my trucks and in a range of prices and they all seem to work the same.

duct tape works wonders

Jackedman almost sounds like the motor was defective. I think one of our other members had a similar issue on a diff RC, and it turned out that one of the motors leads were not making good contact

I miss my old cars, sometimes I wish I had not sold them. My son and I used to have lots of fun.

hmm maybe the lipos aren't up to snuff to power it then as the initial power draw is actually higher then when its moving.

Is it stock gearing?
Have you checked the drive train, by disengaging the motor from the spur and try rolling the car and see if there is any binding.

Some cogging is normal in certain setups. Maybe it's your gearing.
Oh.... you said you upgraded the esc. What esc are you using? A poor esc can definitely cause cogging.

Try a different esc and see what happens. If you only have a lower amp esc, just try it for easy driving and see if it coggs.

well for a quick test it would work to see if it cogs at the start I wouldn't do much with it though outside a fast test

btw you can try a higher amp esc if you have a ground based one

It is definetly a problem between the esc and motor. Some cheap motors will cause the cogging also. I'm betting that a better esc will take care of the problem.
There are quite a few nice turnigy escs out there.

Im thinking that is the problem. the cash flow is all called for at this point in time but i was thinking of getting the 18amp trackstar esc for it and go from there once i have some money again.

Hi,

I am planning to buy an RC18-B2 but have almost made the decision to go kit form (RC18-T2/B2). Depending on advice I may sway to the RTR.

~ Can anyone advise whether I can use my CC Mamba MMB25-CM2068 and ESC ?

and if so....

~ What battery arrangement I can get away with ?

~ What servo should I go for ?

I cannot find any threads with this combination. This could save a small fortune on sourcing a new brushless motor. I intent to use my existing 2.4Ghz Tx and buy an additional Rx

Many thanks
Dan

It will work and should be a good powerful esc/motor. I run a hitec servo. I can't give good advise on a battery. I run the turnigy 800 mah 2s packs I got with my truck but you could use something double that size.

After a roughly 20 year hiatus from R/C, I picked up a RC18T2 Brushless RTR. I bought some Duratrax DTX 1600 battery packs for it and was wondering if anyone on here knows where I can order an adapter that will connect the male mini connector on the Duratrax battery pack to the male Dean's plug that is stock on the RC18T2. I have zero tools or technical savvy to make one myself so I really hope one exists.

I gotta hand it to Associated on this thing, it is an engineering masterpiece and has come a long way from my gold chassis RC10 from back in the day and the price deflation is amazing - $200 fully RTR with a full set of ball bearings would have been unheard of 20 years ago.

Thanks for any help.
