ORIGINAL: stump3r RMG welcome to the single rotor FP club. Nothing better than that new helicopter smell Where to start. Holy cow, well charge the battery but you can fly your stock eflite batteries in her, just a bit of a pain getting your COG correct without having super skids. You might have some fun getting the lipo as far out on the nose as you can. First thing is ensure your at zero pitch on the flybar paddles, balance your main and tail blades. Hmmm been a long day, can't think of anything more than that. Time to try for the elusive hover! Make sure your in a big space and just hover Remember don't get discouraged if you can't hover her out of the box. Everything you know about flying a heli just changed in a big way! When flying this guy your stick adjustments will be small inputs and always return to center, constant small adjustments. Remember when she lifts off she is going to go left on you, for lack of better terms you have to catch it and then maintain the hover. Don't hold your inputs like you do with the CX2 she will get real squirrelly real fast. Just remember cut the throttle when you get into trouble, and....we are here to help. Have fun!!!! We will be wanting progress reports now! Edit...Soloboss just wrote this on another thread and it fits perfect for setup here... starts off with what I touched on above with the heli wanting to go left on lift off..... quote:
The rotor pushes left because the heli wants to spin right. On ice, the tail rotor will push the heli across the pond just trying to keep the tail from rotating. In the air, looking from behind, the heli does not fly level. It leans right to counter the other forces. Trim your heli so when you let go of the sticks, the heli does not travel sideways out of control. Neutral stick must be neutral flight input. The heli will not hover unaided, but the trim should be set so neutral stick allows the heli to 'rest' with minimal wander. Once I got mine trimmed that way, I actually started to hover it! Big Happy, Soloboss My "now what" comment was meant as a bit of sarcasm, but I do truly appreciate your help except now I really am scared Seriously, I have been following you and Solosboss' threads and do take what you say to heart. I will check out setup, balance, etc. before I ever plug the battery into the heli I will definitetly keep you guys posted good or bad reports, my ego can handle it
