How did you manage to double post 25 minutes later?
So is this normal for this motor? I soldered the connectors and the motor still gets very hot.

Resistance. Mine did the same thing and although it's a different esc, it's the same motor and the same connectors. Are the connectors getting hot? I soldered the wires directly to each other and it fixed the problem.

I think it just needed to be broken in or something. I installed the motor on the bandit with 25/78 gearing and I guess the gear box and pinion are acting as a heatsink. Because it runs cooler even though there is much more load on it (than no load before).

IT'S SNOWING! I'm outta here...hopefully it works lol.
My luck we finally get snow and I'm wating for my m1025 AWD front gear box because the screw mount cracked

Hey guys,

I won this Modellfun controller and card on ebay before I knew how big it was. I intended on putting it in my XX4, but there's no room...I put it back on ebay take a look!! I'd be up for a trade or negotiation outside of ebay too.

Sorry to interrupt the thread everyone!

Paul

If you end up throwing on dean and gold bullet connectors you'll end up paying the same or even less if you contact modellfun directly.

Did you try just cramming it in there? You don't need to secure it per say. Just shove it in there.
Or just keep it for another kit. You can get a brushless feigao motor pretty cheap from offshorelectrics for 50 bux.

Ok I had a really bad cogging problem with my 5070 feigao in my m1025 with 21T pinion. I went down to 16T and left the esc on low timing, fast start, and 0% rpm, no volt cut-off. It helped a little and later found out I had the same problem snellemin had..one capacitor's insulation burned off and shorted the other cap.
I took that one capacitor off and put a big blue 470uF 25V cap I had and it seems better. However, when I press full throttle the vehicle stops and it beeps like I need to zero position it again.
I'm guessing i'm either too over geared (Im using HPI SS wheels with proline Dirt Works) or I need a correct capacitor setup. Chances are the remaining green capacitor is crapped too.

Is radio shack a good place? and 3 330uF capacitors worked well for you snellemin? The original capacitors said 105 degrees Celcius.

yea , you need the 105C caps, as they are usually Low ESR caps.

Yea I was looking for 105C, the blue one I got on now is 85C. What is ESR?
I cant find on radioshack's site any 105c 200-300uF or any at those temps for that matter.

I don't want to wait and pay high shipping on ebay though. Where you get yours from? Do you use more than one cap as for back-up reasons or it makes a difference?

This OverKill?

ESR = Equivelent Series Resistance. This and ripple current are important when choosing caps.

The reason they have more than one capacitor is that putting multiple smaller capacitors in parallel is a better way to get low ESR / high ripple current than using a single larger capacitor. You should use aluminum organic or polymer aluminum caps if you don't need the high voltage and can afford it. Those are better than ordinary electrolytics 3-5x.

no
KV is not a size, it's a speed

KV = rpms per volt.

Any kv will work as long as the motor's amp draw is within the esc's capability. I take it you just want speed...lol.

When choosing a motor take the following things into consideration and make sure your esc can handle the motor's specs:
- Watt class
- amp draw
- input voltage
- max rpms of the motor
- then decide on the kv.
