Status: offline 		As a general policy, I epoxy the tail assembly the traditional way, along with using the bolt hardware that's with the kit. I make good and sure the level of the horizontal stab is perfectly even with the wings while the epoxy sets. Using bolts alone is not a good practice, in my opinion. You're relying on two narrow bolt heads to keep your stab level at the base of the fuse....and tail brace tension shouldn't be trusted to keep your stab level either. Do it the right way....epoxy it...bolt it if you want to use up all the hardware....and fly STRAIGHT with piece of mind.

Status: offline 		They are here and being delivered tomorrow to me here in Huntington Beach Ca. Yes I did talk with Horizon on the phone and they said delivery will be to my house on the 7th. I ordered mine in Dec. Did not know when it would be here so last week I opened the New In Box Kyosho Cessna 188 and stuck a electric motor in it and did just a little cockpit detail so it sorta starts to not look so ARF ish. I think Saturday I should be flying the Kyosho and then coming home to work on the Hanger 9 agwagon!!!!! Here are a couple pictures of the Cessna 188 from Kyosho, sorta a cool little arf.

I checked out your gallery, the red and white Piper Pawnee is beautiful. Horizon sent my new Hanger 9 agwagon out today, should have it here tomorrow. Nice work on your Piper Pawnee.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm actually working on yet another Pawnee, same size as the red and white one.
I'm sorry, but that picture I posted of my Kyosho is when it was new and only had a few flights on it. It is well worn now with close to a thousand flights ...flying since 1999. I fly it year 'round in any kind of weather....it really is starting to show it's age. I probably should recover it but all these new Pawnees coming out has me holding off.

Status: offline 		Outacontrol,, she is as pretty as the day she first maidened. Hey I recieved my Hanger 9 agwagon today and you can not believe how nice these are! I have to say for an arf you will have a tough time finding a better made plane. I already went over to Radio Shack and got a flashing red lite and switches. Gotta have a flashing red lite.

Status: offline 		outacontrol, I ordered mine in Dec too. They told me they were shipping them out. I recieved mine Thursday. Such a nice ARF. The control serfices are hinged and even have the control horns in. About the only thing that needs glue would be the canopy. Everything else is screwed together.

Mine just came in, too. What a beautiful airplane. I like the new H9 policy of hinges and control horns preinstalled. Much less effort putting an ARF together these days.

I just got home from flying and I pulled out the body and wheels to get started on her. I am thinking about much larger wheels so I can use a larger prop. Mine will be electric so I would like to rurn at least a 16" prop. With electrics we make up for less RPM with larger props and more pitch. Here is the build thread I read about it being nose heavy,,,http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=819875&page=5 This will be a fast assembly!

Status: offline 		Got mine yesterday. I started the build today. Great quality I did break the head off of a screw when mounting the landing gear. No big deal the finish is typical hanger nine if not better then usual. I am so used to building 3D ultra light arfs and this Pawnee is built like a brick. Going to run runa Hacker A40 12L and 6 cell pack a bit more than needed. here a few shots of todays work.

I read the thread....I can't relate because I'll be using a Saito .72 fs, not electric. I'm going to do the usual...that is, set CG according to the manual by careful rx battery placement. Overall, as in any aircraft that flies, it's better to be slightly nose heavy than ANY amount of tail heavy. Tail heavy makes it drag tail in flight and harrier in for a landing...if you're good enough to control it. Very tail heavy will usually get you in a crsh within 5 - 8 seconds after taking off. Don't worry though....just set according to the book.
BTW...Don't go too large with your wheels. H9 did their homework to make everything sized appropriately to scale. Most Pawnees I've ever seen never had oversized wheels....

Status: offline 		Got my Pawnee last Wednesday. Wow, It's every bit as nice as I thought it was going o be. I know Hanger 9 suggests an .82 for a four stroke but Im trying something a little bigger. I had a Saito .90 twin cylinder that I've been dying to put on something. It's heavier for sure but fits nicely in the large cowling. I hope I can overcome the extra weight in the nose by battery placement (using a sub-c receiver pack as far back as I can find a place for it) and maybe a little added lead weight behind the cockpit. My motto is enough power is good, but too much power is recommended!! Anybody got any thoughts or suggestions about this set up.?

Status: offline 		I also have a 90 twin that I placed in the cowl for fit--got the brain thinkin "It just might work!" not sure the motor boc will safely carry the weight but will take a second look. I have an on-board plug heat that I could move batterys for balance. The twin has been well seasoned so the power might be down and safe in the zone. I have an OS 70 that was drafted for duty, but might re-think that deal with the twin. OH the choices!

Status: offline 		I would have to agree with you. A 9lb plane is not, in my opinion a .40 size. I fly Four Star 60's which weigh in at 7.5 lbs with a Magnum /91 4S and they are not overpowered. I bought a Piper Pawnee from Ebay the other day, as I could not find one anywhere else and will power it with again a Magnum 91 4S. At 9.5 lbs I would rather not be underpowered with a 72 or 82.

I guess we'll know for sure when MAN does their review and some of us get around to flying theirs...the opinions will vary...but remember everyone will have a different flying style. I plan to fly mine low and slow in a scale-like manner. No need for overpowerment. But others will do the aerobatic thing where more power will be needed. I'm concerned about using a larger engine because I'd rather have minimal valve cover exposure. It's such a beautiful plane....I'd hate to ruin the looks. Just my 02 for what its worth.
BTW...using a Saito with Zinger 14x8.

Status: offline 		I dont intend to "thrash the Pawnee--just want to be able to do those off the grass fly-bys and execute the stall turn at the end of the pass---ie--scale. Reason I was thinking the saito 90 twin is that it fits-I have it- and it would sound right! Just concerned with the extra weight hanging on the motor box with out modifying it. Stuff can always be moved around inside to keep from adding weight-lord knows its big enough to loose the family cat in!
