Man this sure will make it harder to pick a side. Now you kids run along and play nice or i am going to put gloves on you and make you fight. That might work lol.

I have found that I have more in common with the groups that the AMA has alienated, then those within the AMA. Not to mention that I was told by AMAers that my kind was not needed by the AMA. That made up my mind very easily. I thought about joining when I started flying gas, but I found a group of profile flyers that are outside the ranks of the AMA. These guys are having a great time without having a formal club.

What's ironic is that the good ol' AMAers who don't like you hovering your profile over the runway will be the same ones who will accidentally end up prop hanging one of their creations over the pits due to a lack of orientation and control. What's worse?

Great observation! I think they put themselves in the place of the better pilots and realize there is no way they could maintain control hovering a plane that way and get skeered…

The guys I really admire are the good ol' AMAers who love it all and who can appreciate all aspects of this sport. We still have a great core group of 70-85 year guys who love to see all the challenging and daring stuff. We're talking about men who were ball turret gunners, pilots, ski jumpers, dirt bikers, outdoorsman, etc. In other words guys who are easily bored with routine stuff.

I have seen what Friz is talking about and there are usually 2 sides to every story. Some of the ol' guys who seem aloof, crotchetty, etc. are the backbone of the club and are the ones who have to deal with all the club issues like picking up the cigarette butts, neighbor complaints, etc.

Of course you still have the "Fruedian" theories for why friction exists between guys who share the same passtime....

The friction exists because some people will rub other people the wrong way, pretty simple, huh? However, I think if those people who are at odds with each other here on R/CU were to actually meet and fly together, possibly a different relationship might develope, if given half a chance. Some will, of course, be more interested in continuing the battle at all costs.

I'm not too sure about that. I have met a large number of the 1/2a guys and they still think I'm strange.

Since I've become Prez of our club, the profile guys are now welcome at our field. We even had a couple of'em join the club now. It also helped that I started flying Profiles also.....hehe

We are going to have a Pro Bro event only, this spring also.....

There's other things to do with a plane than go round an round in circles all the time
