Free Bird -> OS 55AX For Senior Pattern (12/30/2007 3:26:48 PM)

Hi Bob!

I'm currently building a Jim Martin Banshee and have 2 options for power: OS 55AX or OS 61FX, both are NIB. I like the idea of a lighter power package with the 55AX. However, my question is, which engine with one of your Jett mufflers would be the best choice and what nitro content in the fuel? Flying will be mostly SPA pattern and sport. Thanks for your reply!

Cheers ... Rick

Hi Rick....

Sorry for the delay in the reply......

I would go with the 55AX in the Banchee - it does not have all that much room up front, and the plane was developed for older .50-.61 engines that were pretty tiny by todays standards. The .61 engines (big block) would weigh a couple of ounces more RTF weight.

Standard sport fuel..... what ever you run now. I personally run 15% in everything.

The standard Jett Stream muffler used for the OS46 works great. There are some good Tach numbers in the TACH forum threads.

I recommend an 11x6 prop .... you can see why in the numbers.

I hope this is helpful....

Bob
