I have a issue flying inverted . The plane is taking quite a bit of down to fly level. My cg is at factory 6.50" from the leading edge point of the top wing. The model has a nice line going vertical and on knife edge. The plane also is taking just a little down elevator to fly right side up which does not make a lot of since. Ant ideas
Thanks Mike

The new Ultimate is slighty different from the original. Perhaps the cg should be be brought forward a little. Elevator trim is generally an indicator of cg location when everything else is correct. Up trim=nose heavy, down trim=tail heavy. As I recall, mine at 6-1/2" was on the tail heavy side, but that's where I wanted it.

Thanks Pat,
what confuses me is it is deffinatly nose heavy because the amount of down i am holding to level inverted and a stall turn the nose will drop rapidly. Maybe once the cg is correct i can adjust the down thrust to remove the down trim during level flight right side up. The ultimate i have is 2 years old with 11 flights which i flew 5 yesterday. The top wing has -.5 degrees
thnks Mike

Checking the down thrust would be good. Does the plane pitch down when power is applied and pitch up when power is suddenly decreased?

Pat,
Thanks i laid the ultimate out today and the tail and lower wing are at zero with the tail level. The top wing has almost -.25 degree in it . I dont know what you think but i was fairly impressed. Back to the main problem . I have about 3.5 clicks of down elevator to fly flat and level right side up. Golng vertical into a stall turn as soon as i pull the power back the nose falls foward. Tell me if i'm thinking right if i put some down thrust in i will remove the down trim at level flight . ,This might help the inverted flight and stall turn issues. Oh yea the cowling is perfectly spaced right now before i add any down thrust. My cg is at 6.75 inches Thanks for your comments. Did you have to put any extra down than what the factory firewall had?
thanks Mike

Negative .25 degrees is pretty good. Probably helps some at that. At 6.75" you're definately on the tail heavy side. I found that aft of 6.5" was pushing the edge of the envelope, even for those that liked them real loose. I didn't need any change in the thrust line at all and found that plane handled more consistent with the cg moved forward a little. You could try 1/2 to 1 degree of down thrust but I would try moving the cg 1/4 to 1/2" forward first. That down trim is telling you that the tail needs to be lifted for level flight, a good indication of being tail heavy.

Let me know how everything works out.
