Dead on comments Evan! Lots of people think the Outlaws are doing well over 150 mph and up, but they're nowhere close to that. But its so cool watching it go from 125 mph to 0 mph in 10 feet or less!!!
The Jett engines would be a killer power plant for an Outlaw, but you'll have to put a little more work into preventing a nose heavy situation.

ChuckL. Do you have your Jett piped, or running the stock muff?

Standard Jett muffler, turns an 8X10 around 18500 last time I tached it. I mounted mine angled just to keep the carb out of our sandy ground.

Looks good Chuck. You might want to try a header and mousse can muffler later on. You'll be able to transfer some weight back, AND shave a few ounces off as well. I doubt you'll pick up much more power, as the Jett muffs really get the most out of those engines. He did his homework in that area! I like tha way you angled your motor. It allows you to add more forward wing area to the left wing. That'll help prevent dropping the left wing in slow approaches.
This thread needs more pictures guys!!! Evan,,,post that pic of the twin on steroids!

Saw the new "Outlaw Arf" prototype fly yesterday and it was Awesome ! Just like the scratch built one only quicker ( to get in the air!)
I own a original and will definitely purchase a Arf especially for $149 cant go wrong there.

I also think one these little speedsters is a nice low cost diversion from the big 3d aerobats alot of us fly , quite a thrill and will get your heart a thumping wide-open but is also able to fly pretty slow so geezers (on my way at 46yro feel like I'm 90 ) can work up to it. Strap your arse in when wide open, And the ability to change directions or attitudes abruptly when full bore is amazing to experiance.

And when you get a handfull of these in the air full throttle it is always a major crowd pleaser and a blast to participate.

Yeah put me down for two.

Jay

An outlaw twin , Damn !

Just a few pics of the prototype guys. Check out the solid wing tips! Really adds strength. Also included a pic of the back plate style motor mount I make. This, like the muffler, is a Jerry Smith design. Both are easy, and CHEAP to make.

Hi guys. I'm thinking about pre-ordering the Outlaw but I would need to equip it with stuff I already have on hand. Would I be able to use a Super Tigre 40 with it that I have lying around? Obviously I won't get as much performance out of that setup as I could (and to be honest I don't neither myself nor the field I fly at could handle to extreme anyway) but I would like to get just a taste of speed. I could probably replace the muffler on it with something better as long as I don't go way over board. Thanks!

The ST would be heavy meaning you'd have to move everything back and maybe add lead. It would fly it though... It's really designed for a .25 size motor which includes some .37, .32, or .35

Or a Magnum .36 XLS .

Mine is supposed to arrive at the LHS next friday. These chinese guys tend to make me lazy

Evan, what is the trick with the Webra carb ? How do you rotate the fuel nipple on the main needle in order to be able to turn the whole carb 180 deg ? Any close up picture ?

Oh and which colour scheme do you prefer ? I still haven't chosen mine

What is the bottom colour of each of these schemes ?

I would like a somewhat different bottom colour to ease visibility / orientation...

Another question I have is about he mouse can muffler setup pictured up there . Do you think a Macs tuned muffler (the black ones) would yield better result ? Thanks.

The Macs black muffler I am aware of is not tuned and the mouse can will give you a good boost.

I think the top picture looks the best but the other two are not bad.

The Black Macs MUFFLER is great replacement for a stock muffler. It's lighter, wont turn or the end fall off and less smut seems to get on the plane (the exhaust stream is tighter).
Yet I have not seen any power gains.

Sorry I'm away from home so I can't take a pic. Basically I turned the carb around and the nipple points slightly forward so There is a bend in the fuel tubing to the rear. Not hard....

I put two Blue Angels on order back in late October when they first came out with the colors. I almost would rather have the red whithe and blue one....

The Original one from Jerry was never a kit or ARF. At first he sold plans locally for $20. Later he redrew them and E-Cubbed was selling a short kit. Now we have the ARF.

When I build them I build two at a time because they never seemed to last. The last two I built in spring of '04 and the first one is still flying strong. I was going to cover the second one in Oraglow, a glow in the Oracover that they never came out with. Anyway, I still have a spare redeay to cover. I might have to take the uncovered one and make it electric, the Outlaw has great weight to square inches....

It'll be nice to see how these Arfs come out. The only things I would do better from looking at the pics would be to enclose the motor better and put the servo opening on the bottom like originally designed.

What are the estimated delivery dates in the USA ? I'm beginning to think my LHS fools me.

Evan, just waiting for your photo

Regarding schemes, is the 2nd one actually Orange or rather red as it appears on the picture ?

From weakest to strongest, all using performance exhaust.
#1. Thunder Tiger 32 ...$
#2. Thunder Tiger 36 ...$
#3.Webra Speed 32 ...$$
#4.OS 32 FX ...$$$
The Outlaw just screams for an OS 32FX and a Macs pre- tuned pipe #1910 ($89.95) with a 9X6 APC prop @ 16500RPM aprox 120 mph clean, no landing skids/wires. About 6 minutes flight.
For power output, ease of use, engine life, flight time this combo is hard to beat.

#5 Webra 36 ...$$
#6 Jett 35 ....$$$$$
Or the Ultimate A Jett 35 ($300) with a Macs tuned pipe ($100) spinning a 9X6 APC prop @ aprox 19200 RPM 140? mph. It takes fuel to make that kind of power. Fuel use,High...slurp,slurp!....time to land. The flight would be short but dear god, how much can your heart take anyway? Yahoooo!

Jerry Smith did a demo flight with one of these planes with an OS engine at the 2004 XFC championships. The announcer said the plane hit 190mph on radar. He also said they put a G-meter in the plane and it pulled 40 G's.

Yeah I don't know about 190mph either but that's what the guy says multiple times during the demonstration flight.
