Hey guys, im thinking of picking up a Kyosho ST.

My dad decided to keep my Losi for himself, so need a new truggy.

My Nitrage isnt doing the job too well.

I have just about enough, is it worth it.?

I wont need to buy any accessories, have all that I need.

Any opinions about it.

Its going for a really good price.

Just wanted to get some opinions (Pros and Cons), before I got it.

Definitely is a hard to beat deal.

I wouldn't look into the ST US RTR. Out of the box you will find it overall weak, chassis is very flexible, chassis bracing is plastic and very weak, engine is ok, still pretty slow it probably has alot to do with the pipe, also if you want to change motor's you need to buy a special motor mount since the engine itself is the motor mount, stock servo's are very weak as well! Also uses a old chassis design i think its based off of a older kyosho buggy??

I would just look at the ST-1, it is ONLY $250 SHIPPED from ultimate hobbies.

http://www.ultimatehobbies.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=TTR6233!1009

No info on it but its the same part number as this one.

Guys, I just cannot afford ordering a truck online.

This is our shipping charges we had for my dads Losi when it came yesterday.

UPS World Wide Saver = $ 198.99
Customs Duty Tax= $ 200
Customs Handling = $ 45
Customs Large Package Tax = $50

Add that to about $700 for the Losi and some parts, it turns out to just around $ 1200.

I just dont have that kind of money lying around, I called my LHS, they said take the ST R for the price of an ST when the shopping season begins, that is in the end of this month. Theyre letting the ST R go for close to $1000, yeah everything RC is amazingly expensive here. $1000 I can manage paying for an rc, I just cant let $500 go into getting the damn thing here.

These are my choices as of 5 mins ago, theyre all in my budget and avaliable at my LHS at the moment.=

HPI Hellfire (Not really a fan)
HPI Savage X (Not really a fan)
Traxxas Jato
Tamiya Nitrage (Have one)
Kyosho ST
Kyosho ST R

Those are the only things I can afford at the moment, I will try to push for an ST RR, but thats 2 times over my budget, I really dont think that will happen.

So what are your opinions guys.

Thanks

@ azzman

Its going for close to $1000 here. Everything RC is extremely expensive here.

@ jombo

Yeah we do race at times, but mainly bash, I need something that will hold up.

@ ericem

Ultimate Hobbies dosent ship here. Read my post above and you'll know what I go through to have anything shipped here, its such a problem .

@ Matt

Same problem, shipping and customs, I just cannot afford it. I did a manual pricing, if I get an ST 1, passing through customs and shipping, etcc will cost me close to $800. If I get a kyosho ST R in that price, would it not be a better deal.?

@jombo

ST or ST R. I so wish I could afford an ST RR, you have no idea how badly I want one.

@ mtbkym01

My LHS told me to pick it up at the end of the month so that they could charge me the sale price.

Im still trying to push for an ST - RR, if it was like a $100 - $200 more expensive, id go for it, theyre asking for a full $1250 more than an ST - R. I just cant afford that, and dosent look like I will be able to afford that for some time.

Im looking online, trying to see if there is any way I can bypass customs, dosent look like it.

Im looking into ordering an ST - RR from A Main, shipping it to my Aunt who lives in Canada, and asking her to ship it to me as a gift.

But if she uses a company like UPS/FedEx/DHL, they always go through customs, and will cost me more in the end.

And im not ready to throw $500+ into shipping.

If all else fails, ill just buy an ST or an ST - R.

They even have a X Ray avaliable, for like $ 150 more, is it worth checking it out.?

Guys,

I just got back from my LHS, they dont have any ST R ' s avaliable.

They have the Thunder Tiger ST 1 and a Kyosho Inferno ST.

So which one guys.

Ive gotten down to the final two choices.

Thunder Tiger ST - 1 RTR OR Kyosho Inferno ST.

Which one would be better.

Thanks.

Both truggies (from what I've heard), should be fine for what you're planning on doing with them. Does your LHS carry extra parts for the Thunder Tiger and Kyosho? If so, why not get which ever on is cheaper and by some extra parts that will break under hard bashing or racing? You can never have too many extra parts. Just my .02 cents.

They carry everything for the Kyosho. Not sure and dont think they carry anything for the Thunder Tiger.

But the Thunder Tiger is cheaper.

I most probably will get the Kyosho.

i love the thunder tiger...i got one for christmas. but it sounds like the part support available to you at your LHS for the St-1 is not as vast as the kyosho. they are both great truggys. so i would go with the kyosho just because if you break it u can go to the LHS and buy parts for it. if in fact the LHS has parts for both i would then get the ST-1, i love it.

@ snoking

Thanks, going RC hunting tomorrow.

Will check if they have parts, but I normally order all my parts online, do the same for my nitrage.

There is no vast part support here lol, they;d probably have extra tyres/fuel line/fuel filters/air filters, and maybe suspension and diff components.

Im trying to find an ST R. Hopefully Ill find it tomorrow.

If I dont find anything, ill get the Kyosho, tho will throughly check both out before I buy. Ill check which one I like more.

Thanks.

Even though you would have to wait for parts for the ST-1 it is not like you will need them. Parts wear out like clutch bearings and the clutch, but those items are universal. I would get the ST-R if you can find it or just get the ST-1 if there is no ST-R. Even look to see if you can get a Mugen, or Losi 8ight-t.

Ill be trying tro find a mugen, I had a Losi 8ight T, and my dad took it.

They have the 8ight, but not the 8ight T, and its way outta my budget.

Im mainly trying to find a kyosho ST R or a mugen.

Ill be leaving soon to go and hunt lol.

Thanks.

Thanx guys for all the suggestions, couldnt find anything and dont wanna.

Ive modded up my Nitrage extremely well, and couldnt be happier with it now.

Read my other post - First Race Ever -

Youll know what im talking about there, I hopefully might enter a race that gives out a Kyosho ST - RR to the winner.

Will hold out till then.
