Hi guys,

I am getting ready to install the servo mounts in the fuselage. What is the best place to locate them for balance using a G45? Thanks in advance.

Carey

Carey,

I installed my servos(4 standard size, and 1 micro) in a row all side by side about one inch ahead of the cg.
My battery(one) is flat on the fuel tank about in the center of the space in the fuse in front of the wing.
I used a solid stock aluminum spinner that weighs 6 ounces to get it to balance.
The plans show 2 servos on the former where the front of the wing dowels are. Throttle and retract. The rudder and elevator servos shown on the plans are against and behind the aft former where the wing bolts are. I had trouble with the tailwheel steering and using the rudder servo so I added the extra servo for tailwheel steering.
I use 3/16 carbon push rods from Art's Hobbies with the 4-40 titanium ends(38" long) They are very strong and don't require any bracing at all.
I also don't have the dummy engine or baffle plate up in the front.

I just picked up a COMPLETE Y/A Spitfire kit at Toledo for a real deal. I will be starting it very soon. I can't wait to get this one done.

I hope this has helped you.

Kirk,

Is there any chance you still have the plans? I have the instructions that gave me, but no other info.

Carey

Chook,
I've been flying one of these birds for five years now (with a G-45), Give me a call and I would be happy to discuss the do's and don'ts
