I am almost sure they would replace it, and they should do that. Let us know what they do.

Have you tried having the TX antenna perpendicular to the ground? Doing that immensely helped increase my range. This has to do with the transmission signal pattern from the TX.

Best regards,
Sunny

PS to above post, I extended my antenna with a 3.5 section of Styrene tube because I found some extra length inside the TX case. You have to cut open the black rubber/plastic outer shell and cut free the metal "anchor/dongle" thingie to get it unstuck from the antenna. The finished product looks like this.

I called them today to check on it, if they were going to say no problem found and they were sending it back I was going to buy another radio.

They said they got it last Friday and tested it finding NO range problems again. They said they went ahead and sent a new one out Monday though as I requested but they don't feel it will fix the range problem I'm having.

I'm guessing it should arrive tomorrow and if a new unit doesn't take care of the range problem, I promise I will get to the bottom of it even if it's a matter of seeing if my watch or cell phone is causing this or drive 50 miles away to see if the whole city of Austin is causing it! I just hope the new one works like intended and for some reason it was a problem they were unable to reproduce while in for repair. Either way I'm going to post it here and let them know so if anyone else has the problem in the future they don't have to play the repeat shipping game.

Yes that's one of the things I will try if the new one still has issues. I'll pull out the servo, RX, and use the external 4 AA battery pack to power it, sit it on the sidewalk and walk away until it loses reception to see if anything in the chassis is somehow causing this.

6 volts a 5 cell is what i use in my Nitro tc3,spektrum 2.0 no problems.
Try a 5 cell rx pack.venom and reedy are both good. spektrum seems to like 6v
over using alkalines. rc

The new one came and wow, they upgraded me to the DX3.0 from the 2.0 and sent me the pack that has a free extra SR3000 receiver! Keep in mind I hadn't demanded anything or told them off to make them feel like they needed to try to make me happy with freebies.

I put everything the way it was when I was having the problems except now with the new DX3.0 and the new SR3000 and an updated Mamba Max ESC firmware. It was cold outside so I made just a couple of quick passes and I had NO signal problems at all. I drove it about twice as far as I was ever able to drive the other unit and never lost signal. I hope I don't jinx myself, but it's working perfectly!

I'm very happy everything looks to have worked out and they gave me a free upgrade without any threats or demands they make me happy.

This one came in a frozen hash browns box like the last one lol, dunno what the deal is with these guys and hash browns, they must eat a ton of them...

Yeah, my DX 3.0 rx would lose the bind with the tx within 30 sec, and they wouldn't bind again.

I called them and they told me to send it in. I sent my radio in and hope I get a new one! Maybe another free rx like reseg got!

what ever happened here?

I got a spektrum dx2.0 which has the same issue.. my car gets about 150feet away and then I loose signal.. it's really annoying.. it's causing a lot of far off crashes. grrr! anyways.. I have rewired my car so many times and it still does the same thing.. nothing makes the range any better.. I thought maybe I got a bunk RX so I got another one because I wanted to build another rc car anyways.. so I finally got this car up and running and the same darn thing is happening.. 150 feet away and all communication stops. so it's got to be the TX! I have tried new batteries, different antenna angles, different ways of holding the TX, nadda.. nothing works.. anyways.. I am going to call them tomorrow to get some warranty support but I thought I would see what happened with this other dx2.0 user who started this thread.. the upgrade to the dx3.0 fix the range issue? after you got the binding sorted out??

I tied (soldered) 2 6v 1600mah hump packs together to make a 12v battery for the DX2.0 TX. I no longer have any range issues. The display actually reads 13v on a full charge. I have run about a gallon with the original charge and it is still over 12v. This is a must do mod for those with range issues. I am not sure why they wouldn't do this from the factory since it actually works unlike the stock battery setup which is WEAK.

Do they still fit inside the Controller?

I was also noticing small signal drop outs when my car was at long range and the voltage was in the low end, thats why I added a 9th cell inside the controller. 12.7v now when fully charged and in an emergency, you can still use non-rechargeable's. Have a read through my post on it here. I am yet to see if I still get any drop outs at the track, too freakin busy.

I just got my DX3.0 with a second rx. What a hunk of junk, 150 ft out on my revo and it lost signal. Changed out rx unit and still loose it three houses down (150ft). the stock traxxas radio had twice the range as this over priced tyco wanna be radio. Sounds like other folks are having the same issue's and spektrum thinks 150 ft is Ok range. Bad thing is My hobby shop has a no return policy on special orders, that was $$$ pissed down the drain. I will never buy a spektrum ever agian!

So is the range/signal better now that you boosted the power delivery with LiPo?

I still haven't sent my TX back for reapir because TWO of my cars are totally down then.. and swapping radios around is a total pita.. by the same token trying to stay in the 150 or so foot range limit is extremely hard on a car that goes 50+ mph.. I feel really let down my spektrum on this.. and seeing all the other people with issues.. well, a couple others at any rate.. two weeks turn around for repairs on a BRAND NEW radio is just unacceptable to me.. anyways.. I will be traveling at the end of this month so I will send my TX in then..

PS: if they send it back saying there was no problem I am going to be livid.
