I am new to the RC World and need some help. I just bought a Super Brain 977 and have two Venom 7.2V 5000mAh NiMH Sticks with Traxxas Connectors. I know the Super Brain has Kyosho connectors, are there adapters out there that go from Kyosho to Traxxas? Or do I cut off the old Kyosho connectors and replace them with male traxxas connectors? any help would be appreciated.

Hi, welcome t RCU.

I think you could use a pair of these if you can find them or make them. Cutting and replacing would work fine too.

Thank you for your amazingly quick response!! Are Molex and Kyosho the same? that is what seemed to be throwing me, the adapters look the same but I was not sure

Yes. To be honest I can't ever remember which is tamiya and which is Kyosho, but they plug into each other and are all 3 Molex (they make a ton of connectors)

One thing is sure, the white ones are fine to charge with, but for operating the truck use the Traxxas ones since the current is much higher. An adapter (using the white connections) is ok as long as it is plugged in and kept plugged in because it is the constant plugging thay makes them loosen up and eventually melt.

GUVER: by using the adapter pictured in the link you provided does is defeat the purpose of having the high current connector going to the speed control(power wise) i myself have that connector on my rustler vxl, and traxxas said they dont make the "old school" connectors because it restricts power?? thanks

Well, yes kinda. Most people think they just won't handle high current and they won't. The reason is mostly because of the constant plugging. I have ran many Tamiya adapters with fairly high current and they will hold up fine if you plug them in new ensure a very tight/deep fit and then do not ever move them.

For used ones, use a tiny poker to spread the male pin apart three ways and then close up the female pin, push both sets of wires in as far as they'll go and grasping the wires only plug in the connector. You can even use a tiny zip tie around it if you want.

Yes, With the vxl, maybe a slight increase OR if the white one was old/worn out.
