fv432 -> T34 build (1/5/2008 12:35:17 AM)

my new metal gears arrived for the T34 so decided to dust her off and install them.
no probs with the metal gears although after seeing YHRs build and the HUSSARS build may go with the Heng Long gearboxes but time will tell[;)]
whilst doing the boxes and preparing the chassis for strenghening noticed alot of play in the front two road wheels and decided to fix it[:D]

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (1/5/2008 12:37:39 AM)

next photo shows how bad it was being pulled out by the spring

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (1/6/2008 10:29:09 PM)

some more work done today got the heng long turret motor in
cut the hard foam and plastic floor strengthener cut and installed (temporary)
installed a dry run on the electronics ready to cut the placement holes in the foam
new attempt at an improved smoker with cpu fan instead of the noisey power draining plunger (will see how this goes as i'm not sure on the smoker yet)

hdbeast -> RE: T34 build (1/6/2008 10:43:49 PM)

Nice going fv432, foams a cool idea. I have some metal gears coming for mine and have the HL electronics in and running metal tracks on,(I did all this about maybe six months ago) I kept the original recoil and flash in and use the HL smoker. I have a set of HL gear boxs sitting around, but I'm going to wait until I need too before I switch to them. Keep up the great work.

Gary

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (1/6/2008 10:45:37 PM)

A quick tip on the turret motor dont remove as i did the post nearest the turret ring as it's the other two that need it and it'll save you some glue[;)][;)][;)]

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (1/6/2008 10:49:14 PM)

thought the same as you then gary[:D][:D]
I saw when i installed them how much slop there is on one side of the box[:'(][&:]

Panther F -> RE: T34 build (1/6/2008 10:53:29 PM)

Nice work so far fv432. [:D] You will like the way the T34 runs and handles. It's one of my fav's after my build!

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (1/6/2008 11:04:28 PM)

thanks panther f your build and others have inspired me to do this one [;)][8D][8D][8D]
yep love the little T34 was originally running on 2 car ESCs but did'nt like the "feel" then she popped a drive gear and she's been waiting funds/parts ever since[;)][:D]

wackywheelz -> RE: T34 build (1/7/2008 2:54:09 AM)

I haven't got as far on the mechanical mods with my WSN, but yeah on day #2 I'd installed HL S&S because the stock electronics were just lame (dual stick control [:'(]), and that huge controller..... who has 16AA's? LOL

Much better now, still not quite as robust as a stock Heng Long, but at least it drives like one (albeit a little slower) and I'm happy with it.

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (1/23/2008 11:21:35 PM)

update
re-built the hull M.G with a brass rod for the barrel and fibre optics

YHR -> RE: T34 build (1/24/2008 12:03:14 AM)

What's with the March of the Caterpillars!!!!!![:D]

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (1/24/2008 12:50:33 AM)

PMSL !!!!!!![;)][:D][:D]

Panther F -> RE: T34 build (1/24/2008 1:01:15 AM)

I once woke up on a bedspread like that. [X(]

You've never seen a guy jump out of bed that fast before in your life!

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (1/24/2008 1:07:54 AM)

believe it or not that is my wife's favourite table cloth [:o][8|][X(][X(][;)]
she can keep the table cloth as long as she doesn't try making me a pair of trouser's out of the rest of the material
can't believe she paid good money for it[:@][:@][:(][:(][&o] LOL

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (2/6/2008 11:37:19 PM)

update
didnt like the metal replacement wsn gears and box setup so opted for the new stug/PZIII ones instead
first up strip the old bits out of the t34
next remove the H/l style drive shaft
then fabricate a new drive shaft and fit a h/l metal gearbox final gear off of the main drive shaft to fit to the wsn one
The rest are pretty much self explanatory

hope you like
Rob

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (2/6/2008 11:39:26 PM)

some more pics[;)][:D][:D]

hdbeast -> RE: T34 build (2/7/2008 2:02:20 AM)

Looks very good Rob, something I may need to do myself someday.

Thanks, Gary

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (2/7/2008 9:48:31 AM)

thanks gary
infact the conversion is easier IMHO than fitting the metal gear upgrade set[X(]
O.K a bit more work involved and expense but at least the gearbox wont try and self destruct every time you hit the "go stick"[:D][:D][:D][:D]

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (2/7/2008 10:36:11 AM)

fitted the rear brace for the sprocket gears made from brass tube.Had to dremel a channel out of the rear for this to fit man that was scary
The last couple of pics show the room after the box is fitted (height)

Rob

The hussar -> RE: T34 build (2/8/2008 8:31:50 AM)

Amazing modified! Great work!

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (2/8/2008 8:05:56 PM)

many thanks hussar[;)][:D]

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (2/10/2008 12:26:36 AM)

more work completed today
Both gearboxes are in and rolling the only major problem was needed to cut the ends of the motors off were they stuck out past the pinion gear[:)][:)]
next up the electronics[:D]

hdbeast -> RE: T34 build (2/10/2008 12:57:59 AM)

NICE[:D][:D]

borealis -> RE: T34 build (2/10/2008 8:39:17 AM)

Wow, super strong setup! This tank will run everywhere!

fv432 -> RE: T34 build (2/10/2008 9:23:34 AM)

really impressed with these boxes they are worlds apart from the original h/ls
not sure if they are as good as tamiyas but time may tell[;)][:D][:D][:D]
