I got my Viper Shark from Sharkjaw yesterday. I was impressed with the kit and quality of the plane. Brushless motor, 3 cell 11.1 1300mah battery, FM TX, tools, CD with FMS sim, sim cable and Deans connectors.

Set up:
Set up was easy. The elevons needed to be adjusted a bit but it is very easy to do. Checked the CG, no adjustment needed. Time to fly!

First flight:

Went to the local school yard and first take off was off the basketball court. It lifted off after about 20 feet with no drama. There was a little breeze but nothing that upset the jet. I did some circuits, nothing fancy and it flew very nicely. I flew at about 1/3 throttle and it was nice a stable. Turns require a bump in the throttle to prevent it from diving. I landed it on short grass which bent the nose gear. The gear isn't meant for grass landing but I used it because I'm not comfortable with trying to catch it and the gear is needed to protect the control arms for ground landings.

Second flight:

Hand launched at about 1/2 throttle, plane dipped but a quick stab of throttle and off she went. Again, easy flying nothing fancy. This time landing on the grass broke the nose gear off. Oh well, it looks better without it!

Third flight:

Hand launch at almost full throttle and it took off nicely with a bit of climb. This time I sort of tried a few maneuvers. I tried a loop from level flight but I wasn't at full throttle so it stalled but I recovered easily. Next I tried a roll but ended up doing a reverse Immelmann. At least it looked cool and my son was impressed. Landing this time was smoother without the nose gear and it only scuffed the foam nose a tiny bit.

I went for a fourth flight, hand launched again full throttle. I got halfway around the field and the battery dumped without warning. Glide landing was no problem but the battery dumping was a surprise.

I consider my skill level a moderate intermediate at best and I was able to fly this plane with little drama. There is a lot more performance that I haven't come close to exploiting yet. IMO this is a great plane for getting into EDF flight.

Here's a pic with the landing gear modified. Nose gear cut down (no more nose steering) and rear gear bent for a lower profile.

Two more pics of the jet...

That look's pretty nice, does it fly fast?

I haven't taken over 1/2 throttle while cruising so I haven't seen it fly at full power yet. I beleive it is supposed to be able to do 50+ so it depends on what you think is fast. It's fast to me!

Good plane and great customer service. I did have one issue and the plane was WAY out of warranty but Chris at Sharkjaw sent me a replacement for free.
