I am finding that when I have my bird(cx) all perfect with stock blades...everything gets wierd and squirly with xtreme UPPER GRIPS ONLY. The extra weight at the top is my problem. if she leans to far, the extra weight on the top of the shaft brings the whole thing over and down. I'm wondering if anyone has trimmed some fat from their grips. I put double linkages on the upper head which helps to stabilize the weight, but it's just to heavy, plain and simple.
ANY SUGGESTIONS????
thanks
quattro

Wouldn't using Xtreme grips/blades on the top with stock blades on the bottom also produce some serious lift differences? I can't imagine any scenario where using different types of blades on the top and bottom would be successful. My advice would be to keep the top and bottom blades matched.

jerk...you would be correct. However, it's more stable with mixed blades than it is the upper grip setup added...i can't figure it out...I had the stock blades on earlier today and I was flying outside like i was a pro. I went 60ft high, spun around a few time in both directions...forward flight was good...maneuvering was good. As soon as I put the xtremes back on all hell broke loose. I'm at a total loss...the only thing I can figure is the weight.

That makes no sense that extra weight on the top would pull it over. Those few extra grams would be offset by the lift generated by the Xtreme blades. There is a top and a bottom set. One set is labeled A and the other B. Make sure to use them in the proper place. Do you have grips top and bottom? Post some pictures.
Are you upper blades tracking ok? You will have to take off the ball linkage on the top between the grip and flybar and trim a little off the linkage so you can tighten it a bit more to get the blades to track proper. I think I had that problem too.

xyster, I couldn't see an A or B. but when I got them they had the balls on them already...so I assume the larger ball for upper and smaller ball for lower, just like the stocks. Where would the A/B be stamped. my blades are tracking perfect as is the flybar(I've tried 2 different fb's so far). You are correct about the shaving of the link arms. Mine were too long, which is funny because they come with links that are even longer than stock. I've been messing with it since(and before) I posted this and I'm thinking it might have something to do with swashplate leveling. I've been playing with the linkages on the servos and the trimming on the TX and I've gotten it to improve but not go away.

I have to agree with you about the weight thing not affecting things...but it's all I could figure at the time. but now i'm thinking lower setup and trimming, since the top is tracked perfectly.
thanks guys...

I was referring to the A and B on the blades not the grips. It sounds like your grips are in the proper place. The swash will probable need to be leveled out again after installing the grips. pics?

If it's any consolation I had to completely re trim my bird when I went to the Xtreme grips and blades. You will have to adjust it, pots, trims all of it. I have mine perfectly dialed in. Do one thing at a time and all will be well

I had a similar problem like that. I could fly it fine indoors but when I went outside it was wobbling to the point I almost crashed it. It was about twenty degrees and 1 or 2 mile per hour wind but my stock set up would never do that. I was also thinking about the weight thing. When it started to wobble the grips seemed to amplify it.

Stump3r - why would I need to mess with the pot? I thought the pot was for speed of rotors in relation to each other...centering the yaw? But I've read on these forums about messing with it for other reasons. I am reluctant to touch it cause there is no spin without input, which is good right? Please explain further if you don't mind. I got tired last night in the midst of trimming. I think I still have a bit more swashplate leveling to do.
thanks
quattro
