I had the same consern as you at first. Run it rich at first. After a while, you will get to know the engine and actually what it will sound like when tuned correctly.

Yea, I am going to follow the manual needle settings I guess, unless you believe the factory setting should be fine. Below are the manuals needle settings, please tell me if these should be correct for a rich mixture or not.

"Make sure your engine is set for break in. Close the high-speed needle until
its snug. Turn the high-speed needle counterclockwise 3 full turns. Close the
low speed needle and open until the throttle until it is even with the silver
collar around it."

Thanks.

Yes, that is the correct settings for break in. When they use the term "snug" that means until you feel a little resistance; do not torque them down too much. As long as you see blue smoke then you are in the safe zone.

Thanks. Also, with the gear placment - use a pice of paper to test their position? Does this mean put the paper around the gear - as in the manual - and push the gears together snug or with pressure (pushed hard)? I am needing to make sure and this should end all of my questions hopefully until I get down to running my new rc (finally and end to the long rampage).

"Check the mesh of your spur gear and clutchbell. Take a small piece of
paper, cut it into a ½ inch wide by 6 in long strip as shown below. Loosen the
4 engine screws on the bottom of the car as shown above so the engine slides
back and forth. Once you have the engine screws loose put the piece of paper
between the clutch bell and spur gear. Push the engine into the spur gear and
tighten the engine bolts. Pull the paper out and you are done."

Leaves me blank on the force to push them together.

Thanks.

I usually push it together with force but after you do that, roll the car to make sure it meshed correctly.

And look/feel/listen for? - any more opinions on the force to be applied when using a piece of paper to check gear placement?
