well one you can take the video in ur hand... walk away about 5-10 feet... and throw it as hard as you can.. and maybe you can get it into your computer.. hehehe Sorry i had to sayit.... well im sure there are programs and wires that will help you. or you can take it to a shop and have them put tapes on CD's or dvd's.... thats about all i know. i have a new cam and it has a option to save to tape or save to the memory card... and i just take the card out and put it into my computer.......
so good luck on finding the equipment....

Bill,

If you own or can get access to a Mini DV camcorder, you might be able to something similar to what is outlined on page 33 of this manual.

http://www.ge.uiuc.edu/ge342/manual/JVC%20GR-D30%20Video%20Camera.pdf

I used to own this camera, but never tried that procedure. It will get your video into the Mini DV camera, but then you'll need to use a Firewire cable to get the video off the Mini DV camera and onto the computer.

I've used the Dazzler for doing this very thing. It works very well and doesn't cost much. You can pick one up at Office Depot and I think that Staples carries them as well.

I use Hi-8 for recording my 2.4Ghz videos from my on-board cameras. I use a Cannon mini DV cam to transfer to mini DC tape which easily goes into my computer through firewire. The problem I see is getting a mini DV cam nowadays to do that without casting a thousand or more dollars. Analog input used to be a common feature on entry level camcorders as well as mike inputs but now they seems to appear on expensive models only. Incidentially the Cannon I own is model no. ZR 60. There's also products from Pinnacle like Dazzle I think that import analog to computer and of course there are more expensive solutions out there.

I still like Hi-8 for shooting long converstions. The tapes are cheap and hold two hours of video, but by then the chatter turns into a whisper.
