Ok I searched a lot of threads on here and I am totally confused on which Vess prop I should get for my Sukhoi equiped with the TOC 53cc motor. Currently have the bunny 22 x 10 prop on it. Very little extra power to pull out of a hover. So should I get the 22A or 23A Vess prop for this plane?

A 10 pitch prop is not going to give you much pull from a hover. A better choice would be an 8 pitch. That beng said for a Vess a 22A would be about right. Remember a round cowl has lots of drag. To overcome that drag you need pulling power so lower pitch is in order though forward flying speed will suffer a bit

TBM sells the Carbon Fiber (CF) PT model line of props. They are the same blade as the Mezjlik and a bit cheaper and lighter and cost about the same as the Vess. Don't get me wrong, Vess props are pretty decent but I thik I'd do a 22X8 PT prop on that plane

They would be nice but TBM does not ship to a FPO military address.

Actually I was just looking at their website and unless you are in an area considered to have restrictions it does look like they will ship to you. If you have not called them I would and dbl check. If you have I apologize

I agree with the 22-A sizing. Horizon is another that makes it real difficult for overseas military shipping addresses. If they "forget" to ship or it gets lost you're still stuck with paying for it.

With a lot of sites you'll find that there's no way to accurately input an APO or FPO address and even if you can enter it the site rejects the address and comes up with a bunch of error messages that can't be corrected. Ordering from another R/C forum has the same problem but can be over come with a pm to the site administrator.

Unfortunate, but hobby companies seem to think that U.S. military personnel should not have the ability to purchase hobby supplies for overseas use.

Pat you have run the 3m53 wouldn't you say it needs more prop? Like a Xoar 23x8/10 or If Vess, 23a or b? Or a bunny 23x10.

I have a 22x8 on mine if that helps any. I'm not very familiar with Vess props but I haven't heard anything bad about them so which ever.

I didn't feel the performance with a 22-10 was where it could have been an believe it would perform better with a 22-8 or 23-8, with preference to the 22. That's where the Vess "A" prop should fit the bill nicely. Tom's been working with the engine in some different areas that would better permit a 23" or even a 24" prop, but those concepts are not ready for prime time yet.

I agree. The 22-8 does run better on the TOC 53.

i have a DA but it should be the same for your engine and i think you should try the 23A.........i was using a 22x8 menz on my edge and was not happy with the performance, then i changed it to a 23A and i'm getting 7160. my edge weighs 17lbs and it pulls out of hover with authority.

I went ahead and ordered the 22A Vess prop. I already have a 32B and 27A, haven't had a chance to try them out, due to work or weather. The 22A should be here next week and I can try it out on the weekend.

The Vess 22A runs fine on the 3mm 53cc. I've had one on mine since the second flight of the engine. As soon as I get the new Bowman ring broken in I'm going to a 22B. Here's the second flight of my Edge, first with the Vess. Tuning was slightly off.
