It sounds just like a miniature version of an american motorcycle we all ride here in the states..............[:D]

JeffH -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/7/2008 12:50:06 AM)

I got to get me one them!!!! That sounds fantastic. Looks like some stuff will have to go up for sale!

rcdude7 -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/7/2008 1:42:48 AM)

I don't thnk ENYA still makes the V-twin, but they do come up for sale on *bay sometimes. I have been watching them go for years and they just keep getting more expensive. I have NEVER seen one go cheaply. New one's $600-$800, used are not much less.

Oh well..............[8|]

summerwind -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/7/2008 2:22:50 AM)

that engine was the best engine Enya ever made. i looked for one when building a Stearman........rare and hard to find.

an alternative to it though is here,

lpriis -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/7/2008 1:26:47 PM)

its a nice engine..i think it was made back in 86,but still going strong:) its now installed in a kmp beaver,but its to powerful..lol.
i think its posible to bye al the parts and assemble a engine... http://www.enya-engine.com/index_E.htm

Ed Cregger -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/7/2008 7:17:08 PM)

I have always wanted one of the Enya VT-240 engines, but finally gave up and settled for an OS FT-300.

Since the Enya pistons/rods are not sharing a common crankpin, there's no way it can truly sound like a Harley-Davidson "putt-putt - pause - putt-putt, etc." With that in mind, the OS FT-300 sounds very much like the Enya VT-240. Plus it was a couple of hundred cheaper on the used market.

Did I mention that I still wanted the Enya VT-240? Logic be danged. <G>

Haha... I found and commented on the YouTube video 2 months before you started this thread. That's how much of an Enya nerd I am... [:D]

fiery -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/8/2008 12:36:31 AM)

If you need a 4 stroke V-twin ... you can still get 'em ..

LASER make a range of V-twins ... including a 240.

For those in the know, the LASER's and ENYA V-twin's sound like Moto-Guzzi's :)

JeffH -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/8/2008 3:24:34 AM)

Yeah but they are more reliable than a MotoGuzzi!! All good v-twins should be compared to the Harley....lol all i n good humor remember!

fiery -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/8/2008 8:14:05 AM)

A little OT, but I can say the latest Guzzi's have come a loooong way quality wise since Aprilia took them on ...

And they sound righteous! Here's a LASER 200 V-Twin ...

Last nite there was an OS 240 V twin on Ebay. Not sure if it's still listed..........John

Nice videos. Thanks.

Why is it idling so fast? Still in the break-in period?

Ed Cregger

JeffH -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/14/2008 3:47:06 PM)

My OS 300 never sounded like that. The Enya has two distinct firing events, where the OS 300 fires at the same time. The OS sounds good, but not like the Enya, esp the first video from Norway. All three of my opposed twins(OS 300, 160, and Kavan 50) sounded more like a cross between a Lycoming and a VW engine than a Harley-Motoguzzi V-twin.

Ed Cregger -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (1/15/2008 1:36:53 AM)

My bad.

You are completely correct.

Hey Ed,

The 240 shakes like a Harley and like the Laser I think it's a single throw crank. I never had any of my three apart.[:D]

the Enya and the Laser are worlds apart...................the Laser shakes nothing like an Enya

PlaneKrazee -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (4/3/2008 11:29:37 PM)

The Laser is a single throw crank. Must be the vee angle and counter weight if it doesn't shake. I can tell you the Enya is extremely powerful.

yep, you really need to own and run a Laser before you make any comparison statements about one.
the Enya is a great engine, but there's a reason why all the scale guys went with Lasers...............Proctor even carried the Enya for a while, but Laser's dominated.

Ed Cregger -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (4/4/2008 3:25:24 PM)

But one must also keep the difference in price between Enya and Laser in mind.

I owned a Laser 240. They both use a single throw crank like I wrote previously. Photos of engine factory new. Do you have any photos of yours?

summerwind -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (4/4/2008 7:20:18 PM)

Skypilot......that's a fair question...........i have been involved with the bench running of a Laser 200V.
my b200V will be delivered either today or Monday depending on UPS from Proctor.
i will be glad to post pictures of the 200 and the 80 i own.

what are you referencing in those photos?
was there damage of some kind?

PlaneKrazee -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (4/4/2008 10:34:56 PM)

The 240 is not a 200.

An Enya 120 and 155, or Saito 180 and 220 are not the same. The 200 is not extremely powerful, the Enya 240 is. How many scale pilots have successfully campaigned a Laser 240? Have you ever owned the Enya 240?

fiery -> RE: My Enya 2.40vt (4/4/2008 10:50:31 PM)

It's OT, but the LASER 240V was created to compete in FAI Pattern.

I saw a picture of a Cranfield sporting a a 240V which was used in competition. I have no knowledge of its record of success.

Seeing the topic is ENYA V-twin four strokes and they are no longer produced, here is what you can get, new, here and now:

From the LASER engines web site:

**************************************************************************************************

LASER Vee Twins. The Vee twins are exceptionally smooth running very powerful and reliable. The Vee layout gives perfect primary balance and the offbeat firing gives the engine a distinctive and realistic sound. The smooth power of the Vee twin puts less vibration and stress into your model and radio gear resulting in longer life and lighter airframe structures.

LASER-160v A compact engine with a wide power band between 8-9,500rpm.

LASER-200v The most successful competition 4-stroke twin ever produced. Will fit easily into scale radial cowls and in Continental and Lycoming cowls. The engine gives best power between 8-9,000rpm.

LASER-240v Smaller but similar weight to the 200v the engine is designed for FAI aerobatics. The engine has the highest power/weight ratio of all Laser engines. Due to the small size it is essential that good cooling is arranged in the model, it is not as tolerant as the 200v.

LASER-300v Designed for the larger model, the 300v is the most powerful in the Laser range. Performance between 7,500 and 9,000rpm. it has excellent running qualities and will suit the new 12Kgs FAI rules.
