Howdy everyone, new here. I have the CX and am enjoying it, but.... I can't get the nose to stay straight. It spins slowly right and I've adjusted the transmitter and trimmer pot all the way, to no avail. Since I'm new to helicopters, I was wondering what would be causing this? I've only flown her about 15 times....could the left engine be going? or the 4-in-1? Thanks for the help everybody.

Well, 15 minutes of flight is very good. That probably means you have no or little resistance in the shafts. Its always good to check them anyways. If they are bent or have bad bearings then it could cause this. Make sure there is little to no wobble in your shafts.

How old is your CX? It could be a sign of a weak/dying motor.

You can also try to reset trimer pot on your 4-1. Just set all your setting to the center and resest it with the battery plug, Then very slightly readjust. Sometimes if your turn your pot all the way one way it will glitch the system.

If you want to test your 4-1 then you need a voltimeter. Very carefully test its voltage in each motor out plug. Read its voltage as you slowly rise the throttle untill it reaches max (8.4v), then leave the throttle stick at that same level and test the other motor plug outlet to see if its at the same voltage. (they should both read the same voltae with the same amount of throttle). Be VERY CAREFULL do NOT fry your 4-1. If you touch or cross the wrong wires then it will fry.

Good luck.

Steve, the motor mixing pot is very sensitive and once you approach the perfect setting, adjustments must be so small that you can hardly feel the screw driver move. I don't know why, but when you adjust the pot to max. one way or the other it just doesn't function???

Do this, adjust the gain pot (left pot) all the way counter-clockwise (270-degrees total movement) then turn it back clockwise about 1/3 , or 90-degrees. Next adjust the motor mixer pot (right pot) 1/2 way between the adjustment range (270-degrees total movement). From this point make TINY adjustments to tune out the unwanted yaw (nose drift).

Set like I described you will be in a postion where you can tune out the yaw (nose drift). Make sure your yaw trim lever is set to the center each time you make an adjustment to the mixer pot. Also, make sure you unplug the battery from the heli each time you make an adjustment or the change won't take effect.

You can not completely tune out the yaw (nose drift) for the entire 10-minutes of your flight/battery time. It's just the nature of the CX2. What you are trying to do is set the motor mixer pot so the trim lever is running in the center of it's adjustment range during the middle minutes of your flying time. At the beginning, and again at the end of the flight/battery time you will experience a small amout of drift before it stabilizes to your setting. You can either make a few clicks on the trim as the battery discharges, or you can just fly it and "stick" the yaw away at the beginning and ending of the flight.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I just noticed you have a CX and not a CX2. My recomendations still apply but the location of your gain, and mixer pots may be different. Once you identify the pots you can make the adjustments as I described.

You have to unplug the heli, adjust pot, then plug it back in for the adjustment to take.

Not so for the gyro gain, but for the differential, yes.

15 minutes is WAY TOO LONG to run your heli; even if You are at Sea Level and stock weight. You are going to ruin Your batteries if You let them drain under 3 volts per cell. You will know when You have ruined them when they won't take a charge anymore.
Land immediately when it takes almost full power to hover at waist level. This should happen long before 15 minutes.

Guys, I'm pretty sure he said he's flown it 15 times, not that he has 15 minute flight times.

Thanks for all the help, guys. Also, yes it was about 15 FLIGHTS not 15 minutes....that would have been a pretty long time! I stop flight when it first loses power. I've played around some more with those suggestions and have gotten it pretty close, but I think the battery is going south....it used to take 90-120 min to charge, but it only takes about 30 min or so. Does that mean that it's not taking a full charge anymore?

Also, I have the original CX, not the CX2, so I don't have all the fancy trim gadgets that you guys have.

Thanks again for the feedback!

-Steve

One of my batteries makes my nose spin almost uncontrolably, but it does well on the other batteries

Boy, I really need to read the posts better !

Anyway, when that was happening to Me, it turned out to be a bad motor. Grab a pair; they are cheap anyway.

You might check the shafts and their endplay; there should be some, ever slight, but some; that could cause binding and more resistance.

SORRY, That was me who started the 15 min thing..... I need to trouble shoot myself.

1. Maybe its because I'm trying to quite smoking.
2. I always was horrable at school and spell/reading/grammer.
3. It could be I'm just an idiot.
4. Too much coffie that I try to read to fast.
5. I only read what I want to see in my mind.

Just wish I could come up with a mod to fix all these problems. Like a CF skull, could of protected my brain a little better when my parents dropped me.....

Eh, it happens. Nobody died because of it, and nobody made a jerk of themselves. Just a little confusion.
