I don't know why, but I have become enamored of the GWS line of foam electric planes and am constantly looking for them. It started when I got a C 47. I think I may have a line on that plane somewhere around here.... Anyway, it was quite a complex model for a little (little?? 48 inch wing!) foamie, but it came out pretty nice. I had some trouble flying it tho. She seemed to like to tip stall right after I got her airborne, and there were some impacts which I thought would be the end of her, but she is a pretty tough bird! She took a lickin' and kept on coming back for more. I had issues with the props coming off, and the landing gear- wires breaking/bending and wheels coming off. The battery broke the battery door on some of the hard landings. But gradually it came together and I now seem to have a sweet flying mini airliner. Last time out I was actually looping and rolling her. Make no mistake-you need to fly her like an airliner! Don't horse it off the ground or try any low speed/low altitude stuff, But I like it! This is on the stock motors/props with a 9.6 volt battery. So now I have another GWS ready to fly, and 3 more kits to build. The RTF is the B 2 bomber. The flying wing job with twin ducted fans. This build went much quicker then the C 47 build, even tho the instructions were not as good. I was impressed by the fact that the wing extensions which you have to butt joint glue onto the main body actually have WASHOUT built into them! I expect this model to be a lot of fun if I can actually get it off the ground. You see, it has the low power 150 size motors instead of the 300H motors. The landing gear are those super light "bicycle tire" type things and even tho the nose gear is steerable the ground tracking was terrible when I had her out yesterday. Mostly she went around in circles. I DID get her fairly straight for one high speed run down the pavement, but when I pulled up elevator the nose went up but the mains stayed firmly on the ground. That was probably a good thing! LOL. Has anybody out there actually flown this model, either as mine is equiped or with the bigger motors and how do you like it? Besides those 2, I have from Santa Clause a big Tiger Moth and a Stearman to build, and also I haveone of those 4 motor cargo planes. They look like a C 130 and when I get to mine I want to do it in Coast Guard colors. And I have my hopes for the future regarding either a A 10 Warthog or maybe one of those Me 262's.... So who (if anyone) besides me likes GWS planes? What do you have, how did the builds go and how do they fly? I am usung some GWS receivers, escs, motors and I recently bought some GWS full size high torque servos to put in my Giant Aeromaster which Santa also brought me this Xmas.
