ggunners -> New CV/FMS ParkZone T-28 Trojan (1/8/2008 3:38:12 AM)

Hello all,

I have just completed a model of the ParkZone T-28 Trojan for ClearView and FMS

What could be better than a scale warbird trainer. The T-28 Trojan was used as a primary trainer from the 1950's through the 1970's and saw a bit of combat too as deployed in other areas. As you would expect, this model can do everything you ask it to do. Check out the videos on the ParkZone web site.

Wing Span: 44 in / 1118mm
Overall Length: 36 in / 914mm
Flying Weight: 30 oz / 875g
Motor Size: 480 power, 960Kv brushless outrunner
Radio: Proportional 5-channel 72MHz FM
Battery: 3-cell 11.1V 1800mAh LiPoly

If there are any ParkZone T-28 Trojan owners out there, please try the model with ClearView or FMS and let me know how it flies compared to the real thing.

I have just updated the 3D models and parameter files for both versions of the T-28 Trojan.

Please download the latest files.

I have the PZ T-28 and this is a very good approx of the flight characteristics.

Good job Gary!

I've been using FMS to gauge the PZ t-28. My 1st flight with it blew me away the stock plane was so fast. My question is till I get use to flying the t-28 is does it turn as you tilt it with the ailerons is the speed of the model right or what?

See the note above from randallm. He has the actual model and says the FMS version is very close to the real thing. As a warbird aileron trainer, you should expect the airplane to be capable of any and all combat maneuvers of the era. So the airplane will be quite fast compared to slower 3 channel trainers. That said, everyone who flys the T-28 Trojan remarks on how well it flys at half throttle. So, you may want to reduce the throttle a bit while you practice.

To execute a turn with a 4-channel airplane that has Aileron, Rudder, Elevator and Throttle (A/R/E/T);

1) move the aileron control in the direction you would like to make the turn banking the airplane in the direction you want to go and pull back a bit on the elevator to keep the airplane from losing altitude.
2) some flyers would also say to add a little bit of throttle to keep the model from slowing down and a little bit of rudder in the same direction as the aileron to "coordinate" the turn.
3) once the airplane is turning, the aileron/rudder sticks should be able to be centered depending on the model.
4) to exit the turn, just before you have reached your destination direction, use opposite aileron/rudder to level the airplane and release any elevator/throttle you added during the turn.
