Just RECEIVED my 4 cheap 1/24 scale Abrams tanks( NEW picture)
1 Attachment(s)
Well I have been wanting to buy some 1/24 scale model tanks for a while, just got a good deal on some cheap new one's.I wanted these for my collection more for static models, don't realy plan on running them around very much if at all.Bought these from (decided not to share this info) ,regular price on sale was $23.98.I was going to buy three of them and the lady that took my order said if I bought 4 of them she would sell them to me for $15.00 dollars each plus shipping.Shipping for the four of them is $25.00 dollars,so that works out to $21.50 each delivered.I know these are the cheap varity of 1/24 scale tanks, but for static models they will work just fine at that price.Cheap inertainment and will give me some more models to paint, can't buy a static model of any kind at that size for that price.
My son brought out a tri-pod for his digital movie camers and want's me to build a remote for under the camera that he can use while fishing, hard to hold a camera buy yourself while fighting a fish and still get pictures of the action. So I thought I would use the controls out of a cheap tank to build this. Will use the transmitter, receiver board, elevation motor, traverse motor, and turret ring gear to build this. And will still have the rest of the tank for a static model.I'll post a picture of it when I get it done. The first pic you uploaded is a Leopard 2 :)

RE: Just ordered 4 cheap 1/24 scale Abrams tanks(picture)
The place I bought it has it addvertised as a M1A2 Abrams, don't look like my HL sno leopard.Turret looks like an Abrams to me,but then I'm a rookie when it comes to identifying tanks. BIGMIG ;););)

"Snow Leopard" is what HL calls their Pershing (nothing to do with the German Leopard series). Leopard 2 and Abrams very easy to tell apart, even when they're both in NATO paint.

Got my 4 tanks today from UPS--NO DAMAGE,that is always nice to see.The reason being this shipper used a very strong box and the biggest part beyond that is he puts "FRAGIL" sticker's top, bottom and sides.Love doing business with this guy,Thank you "Albert"
if you should read this.I have got some "outstanding " deals from him and his business, very "honest" dealer. Going to post this in several parts, took a lot of pictures. These tanks are attached to the styrafoam shipping container by (4) screws through (4) plastic sleeves into the bottom of the tank, these tanks cannot move period.HL could take a lesson here on shipping tanks. The radio also fit so tight it was a chore to get it out.All battery's to run the tank were included.Did I mention these are $15.00 dollar tanks. :D Pictures to follow-----BIGMIG ;););) Forgot to add the pictures---- |

The tanks them selves are cute little guys, the hull is 11 1/2 inches long,14 1/2 with the gun barrel,5 1/2 inches wide and about 4 3/4 inches high to the highest point on the tank. They come in two color's-Brown and Green Camo. The battery compartment has ample room and very easy access, just slide and open. Both the transmitter and tank battery access cover's have a place for a screw to attach them more permanently if desired. The turret on these little guys is big and covers all but about a inch and a half of the hull in the front of the turret and a inch and a half of the hull in the back of the turret. They apear to be very solidly built and the plastic is fairly heavy and seems to be of a pretty good quality. The tracks are rubber and apear to be two piece, two pins in each side. There is a red transparent power globe (don't know what else to call it) about 1 inch accross in diameter that lights up and stays lit when the power to the tank is turned on. (do not initially turn one of these on while setting on a table like "I did",they will initially go into a demo mode and take off full bore.)Had to grab it and wait until it was done doing it's thing.:D:D:D----Scared the hell out of me I wasen't ready for that.:D:D:D The instruction's are hard to read and follow, there apear to be several different function's these little guys can do if you can figure it all out.Just did a short test so far on a weak battery that I only charged for about 15 minutes to make a test run.DID I MENTION THEY ALSO HAVE SOUND,amazing. The sound can be turned on and off but think this is a pre-set leval and can't be ajusted. It's not super loud,in fact would have been better if it was twice as loud. There is a red lazor LED in the tip of the barrel,a hit sensor on top of a little hatch, and four hit LED lights in a row on the back portion of the top of the turret.
Will post some more pictures of the tank itself, and one with a HL Tiger for size comparrison.DID I mention these cost ($15.00)ea and $25.00 dollars for shipping-----Amazzing ;););) |

Well did a little more testing running it around,I think they are a kick. The sound can be turned off and the tank run with out sound, allthough with the sound off the cannon still makes it's firing sound. If you push the cannon fire button when the turret is moving you get the machine gun sound and flash from the gun LED.Everytime the cannon fires ,the tank recoils backwards. The turret moves fairly slow, and the tank movement is not bad speed wise. Not fast and not slow.It jumps a little when running, not bad though (typical with the rubber tracks. It runs pretty smooth and is responsive to the controls. If these had good sprockets and plastic tracks they would be killer little tanks, but then you woulden't be buying them for what I paid.I opened up the hull and took some pictures of the interior, but did not open the gearboxes or the turret.Has a standard turret motor that looks just the same as a HL tank, and uses a ring gear like a typical tank. There is no gun elevation though, this is a fixed position and can not be moved.I love the way the Chineese build these tanks, everything screws togeather. There apears to be two chanels in order for these tanks to be able to battle each other, the 4 boxes were numbered 1--2--1--2.Problem is I took the tanks out of the box before I was looking for chanel numbers,I think the brown camo tank is one chanel and the green camo tank is the other channel.I believe that is how they determin which chanel is which, buy the color of the tank. There is no refference anywhere on the box as to what model tank this is.
According to "wackywheelz" these are Leopard II tanks,(being a novice tank collector) I'll take his word for that fact. I'm very happy with these little guys at this point and got far more tank than expected, myself I can't believe what they can make and sell for what I paid for these.I can't even buy 5 gallons of gas for what these sold for. These are just fun little play around tanks, they are not expected to be or operate like my HL tanks. If you just injoy tanks like I do they are well worth having a couple to keep with your collection, and they are well made and look very nice for what they are.Hope this was informative and helpfull for anyone who may choose to get one or more of these tanks. Pictures below---And thanks for reading---BIGMIG [;););) Don't know what happened to the pictures when I loded them,I'll repost them again and see what happens. |

RE: Just RECEIVED my 4 cheap 1/24 scale Abrams tanks( NEW picture)
Well just wanted to give a little up-date on these little $15.00 tanks.Got to really play around with them tonight with my son and daughter-in-law,they are really a kick in the rear.Could not believe how long they ran on the small battery pack that comes with them.I had ordered them more for a static display models, but want to reccomend them to anyone who just wants to have fun.I bought 4 of them so I sent two of them home with my son to take to his beach house for playing around with when he has guests over.I had also gave him a HL panther for his birthday last august,so now he has two more to play around with. These tanks are dissabled after 4 cannon hits,or five hits from the machine gun equals one cannon hit. Then they have to be turned off and back on to reset them for more action. For those who just want some fun, don't listen to the rivit counters here on the forum who say they are no good and don't meet there approval. My son thinks they turn and perform better than his Panther,And I can't dispute the fact because he really put them through there paces.Even though the tracks are rubber,we never lost a track. We had a lot of fun.
As some of you know I'm going to buy and build a 1/6 scale metal tank kit, planning on ordering it the last of february. It will most likely be the last of the tanks I'm going to buy. While I 'm waiting to order that, going to finish up one of my Target Drone MIG airplanes that has been in the spare beedroom all summer and now half the winter.I have a lot of planes and my own airstrip at my place and did a lot of flying in the past, going to get back into planes for a while.I have always flown fuel planes in the past, but just got an offer for an electric plane, motor, and computer radio for $199.00 dollars.Electric planes will be new to me but will go over in the airplane section and get the dope on them. May check back in on occassion to see whats going on,had some good fun times here on the Tank forum and learned a lot about tanks from some of the guys.I won't miss the rivit counters but got to get involved a with a lot of great guys from all over the country. To all you guys it will be missed, but it's time to move on to more fun building (and now mabe a few crashes again).Have fun with the tanks and good luck Guys,-------------BIGMIG----The name will be the same just a different section----:D:D:D |
