hey guys, i thought it was time open up a car audio thread, so whats your favorite brand of speakers, im a kicker fan and i hope that one day i can have a fed ex truck full of solo x 18's and powered by warhorse amps (yeah, im a bass junkie ), i dont know how many i can fit but i think ill run out of money before ill be able to find out (there about $1500 a piece, not sure about the price of the amp), and dont ask questions or be negative and say its impossible cause right now its just a dream, im currently putting a sound system on my emaxx, ill post pics when i get it done, oh yeah no arguing cause i dont want this thread to get deleted

do have a system in your car, i aint got a car yet but i have a really badass 15 (not sure what brand it is, i think its xtreme) thats hooked up in my room, you can barely see it beat and it shakes all the windows in my house and pisses off my neigbors, and i live out in the country so they live about 50 yards away and i cant even see there house cause its so wooded from our house to theres

Hmm car audio eh!?
Firstly i can explain why that 15" sub p's your neighbours off and it does'nt seem so bad to you....it's the length of the sound wave,in your room the wave does not have enough room to expand..however your neighbour is getting the full brunt....bass travels!
Large coned subs ( 15" ) shift more air and are capable of lower frequencys, however imo 12" is the maximum for a car....15" will just give a high spl, whereas smaller subs will actually provide a bass that you can feel and hear!
Personally the best sub-box i made (for my type of music) had two 12" Kenwood subs in a ported isobaric enclosure which provided tight bass and went low enough for me!...Yes i have sat in many cars and heard a system with four 15's,two 10's,four 6's..2000w....etc.and yes it's loud but for me it must have clarity and be balanced on all bands!
Oh and speaker choice...well in my day Infinity,Kenwood and Kicker would of been my preference but maybe things are now different!

well i know how bass travels, i cranked my radio all the way up and went to my neighbors to see of they really could hear it, so i know how loud it gets over there, oh and for my maxx system, i have a perfect set of speakers, i just have to find them and my mini amp, i might hook up a really small mp3 or ipod to save space, but as soon as i find the speakers ill get started, so just be patient

focal speakers are awsome...i have a 10 speaker boss system in my car that barelly needs any more bass. but i can turn it all the way up so your ears are beading but you can still hear crystal clear music. i really love this system. best one so far. i might be adding a pioneer sub with a coustics amp pushing it, just to give the sound a little kick in the but.

I recently put a decent system together in my car. I got a used amp and did all the wiring and installation myself to save money. I just keep getting annoyed because it seems like whenever I take a turn hard my sub box moves around behind the seat. (moving the sub, or changing its angle can change the sound alot) and because of this it sounds different every day lol! some days its like "did I blow something? maybe a wire is loose?..." and other times it rattles the windows and sets off my neighbors car alarm easy LOL! just 1 12" in a sealed box (1.5 cuft) and a 650w amp but it thumps for such little power, IDK why?

how do u guys keep ur boxes from sliding around in the back?

Hmm, well my Cobalt had Obcon's in and were powered by Directed Audio 600 truwatts mono amps. "Thanks to them for sponsoring, it was a great system and car"

And while they were definatly clear, i must say my new favorite company for speakers and amps is Definatly Memphis Audio, Those guys know how to make a speaker, and it is the clearest sound at all ranges i have heard yet.

For decks, I stick to Kenwood, but Eclipse are great because of the higher voltage output, and Alpine makes a good deck to.

Ohh which reminds me, Planet Audio had a great Linedriver out two years ago, I don't know how well they are fareing now being i am in Iraq and havn't touched a car stereo system in quite some time. But definatly look into these company's they will put any Kicker/Rockford/Alpine speaker to shame in a hurry.
