Hey Guys .. just want to get the general feel... I might be able to get one of these engines... reason I am interested is I've heard several good comments about them...was just wondering what would be a reasonable price for one thats NIB with855 muffler + this one comes with a bisson pitts ... this all sounds good to me as I plan on installing it in a warbird about 70-74 inch span
or dont bother with supersedes and get something newer..??

There was a time when the 1.08 was the best and most powerful engine on the market. They were, and still are brutes. The only thing I didn't like about mine was the muffler was large and ugly, but it has to be that way. If you use the Pitts style muffler you need to adjust the outlets so that they equal the outlet size on the stock muffler to avoid loss of fuel pressure issues. It also has a great carb that produces a really reliable engine run.
If you can get the engine and Pitts for between 200-250, you have a killer engine.
FBD.

Thanks for the comments there Flyboydave, ..I know what you mean about the bulky muffler, I wasn't planning on using that as it also comes with the header pipe adapter to run a tuned pipe.. I wouldn't run it for speed of course but it could should be good on a long pipe like the classic pattern planes that ran hannos or YS fire long strokes..only other thing I dont like about it is ..they are a heavy engine...but the many references to its power, that makes its so attractive to me

....cheers back to ya', Frank. If there ever was a "big block" OS, the 1.08 fits the description. You might just need that weight in the front of the warbird. I prefer to add "engine" up front....
....not lead.

Ive heard nothing but impressive comments on the 108FSR. The new version of the 108FSR nowadays is the 120AX which I own & love very much. (Which I guess is just a little more powerfull than the 108 and a bit more easy on the fuel as they have different port sizes.)
Either way; you will have a very strong & long lasting engine.

Propjet4me, In my opinion, the O.S. 108 FSR is by far the best engine OS ever made. I own two of those engines and the power, reliability and long lasting characteristics of that specific engine are bar none the best. You can't go wrong with it. If you decide not to buy it, please let me know, I will.

I agree with all the good things said about the 108 FSR. I have one of the earlier ones -pre remote carb, and it is one of my all time favorite engines. Brute power, faultless reliability and great longevity.

The stock OS108 muffler robs power and adds a lot of weight. A 108 works well with a Macs 15cc muffled tuned pipe. They are easy to set up and IMO a must have item worth about a thousand rpm over the stock muffler. They do have a big carb and need to run 10,000 rpm or more to draw fuel well. My 108 has turned an APC 14-8 at 11,400 for over one hundred flights on Omega 5%. I recently lengthened the pipe and installed an APC 15-8 that tached 10,000 on the same fuel. I would pay up to $190 for a new one.
