Hi, my name is David, aka Yub, yub, cmdr!

Since this is such a new forum, I think it would be nice to introduce ourselves, our area of interest, and expertise.

My primary area of interest is in machine learning, especially applied to robotics. I am also interested in distributed robotics.

Hi, my name is Calvin, aka, Calvino

GREAT IDEA MAKING THE FORUM (WOOHO), I am kindof in and out of hobby grade robotics, BEAM, things like that, RC takes up most of the time, do have plans for converting either a RC truck I have now (radio shack truck, not so great), or like an e-savage, into a video platform for remote "reconisance", aka, film the neighboorhood at a different angle, lol, have also had an idea for a model plane auto pilot like system

You will probably see my username a lot in this forum beside "Users viewing this topic:" I am really interested in the mechanical and analog electronic part of robotics, not so much into programming or anything digital like BASIC or STAMP.

I do - but looking at robots all day gets the mind thinking in my free time about other applications.

I'm on my high school robotics team and have been for the last two years also. It's a lot of fun. And I'm familiar with the lego league although I was never no one.

Just a little note to Cybert99, the "walking stick 2" is very cool! Inspiring too.

robotics forum brilliant idea.. finally!
Well, I'm Dima, been in FIRST robotics for 5 years (this years i'm just helping out with overall mechanical design and transmission.. school takes up way too much of my time). My team is WARP7, western association of robotics personnel.. we've been around for 6 years now.. were GTR champions twice and went to nationals for free. High school robotics is kind of boring now, not a challenge anymore, so I'll probably sign up to a couple of my uoft teams.

My area of expertise would be machining, CAD, and electrical (being head-electrical, I don't take it seriously anymore since wiring a bot for FIRST is too simple). I used a lot of Inventor, ProEngineer, SolidEdge, and just now getting into CatiaV5.

This year I was helping out with the two speed transmission you can see below, last year we competed, the classic old version got us a championship. This year we have the universal version and a couple of CNC machines, so we can easily whip up a few gearboxes in no time.

I've taken too many tech courses in high school and would be very happy to help a lot of ya out if needed.

Cheers, and big thanks for this forum again!
