Thanks for the info, without cutting the cowl ring I could not see any way to get the cowling on with the mufflers on. Shooting for a maiden next weekend.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to Ken's hard work, the 36% Edge manual has been posted on the PAU web site, and is ready for download.
We will continued to support this thread with answers to questions, and new pictures and/or videos when we can get them.

Part 2 of the DA-85 install. The header is now finally installed and I needed to cut about a 1/2" off of it. Although not necessary, I also cut out some of the firewall to make access to the carb a little easier. Trimmed the cowling as shown and it still needs a little touching up, but its pretty much done. All in all, it still looks pretty clean even with the 85.

I did my pre balance last night. I was very pleased to have the batteries under the wing tube. I thought for sure I would need them in the nose. They must be coming out a little nose heavy with the 100's? Seems like the 85 is a perfect fit for this airframe. I put a manual choke on mine, it was kind of a pain. I needed to extend the choke arm to make it work. Also what is up with the 3-48 threads in the throttle arm? Can you even buy a ball joint with a hole that size? I ended up drilling a 2-56 ball out to fit. I had to make a trip to the hardware store just for a a single screw and nut. Oh well b@%ch b@%ch b@%ch. I'm still on track for a maiden Saturday, weather permitting. I've been to busy working on it to take any pictures, I'll try to take some tonight. The install looks very clean with the absence of regulators. Also my engine mount and tunnel mod. look pretty cool.

sounds like a good balance to me eric, Im sure the plane was designed around a 100, but will work well with an 85

Eric,

That’s odd, my throttle was fine with 2/56 for both the 85 and 100. Do you have an earlier version of the 85? I am also interested in your throttle setup. I know how I am going to go about it, would like to see yours first. I may change my mind.

It turns out it's a 2-56 just a bit sloppy. I was using a metric screw by mistake it threaded in perfectly, but wouldn't go through the ball. I brought my camera to work today, but I forgot my USB. I'll snap a picture of my servo mount when I get home and post it with the rest.

What's up with the wood standoff? You could have used aluminum standoffs and saved some weight... Or do you like the sanding part...?
