Good news on the firewood. I was wondering how to get 4 airplanes, camping gear, firewood, and coolers in the back of my truck.

Well I got bad news and good news. The bad news is my new boss already posted our work schedule through Aug and I work that weekend.
Good news is we can swap with one of the other guys as much as we want as long as we get 40 hours a week from wednesday to wednesday. I'll have 4 days vacation built up so if I have too use that along with working a few shifts, I'm there. Already talked to another guy and looks like I'm going to pull a weekend shift end of February for him and he'll pull my weekend for SF-08. Will try be there thursday night and staying at the field.

TruBlu, Last year was my first Spadfest. I'm never going to miss another one! It was a great time and well worth the drive.

trublu,
you'll have to decide between campfire and festivities. We ran into the weeeeeee hours last year, no time for a fire, barely time for sleeping.

To be honest I am just happy to be going. It sounds like a blast and any reason to combine RC and camping is good enough excuse for me.

I was up at daylight each morning, and crashed each night around 2:30 a.m. or 3:00 a.m. Night flying the foamies was way too much fun. There might just be another tater singer or two present, if you can't get yours Elit95.

Later,
Omaha

Hey guys quick question. Do I need to get an AMA License? I don't fly at a club or anything so I never renewed my AMA card last year.

Yes ! This will be an AMA sanctioned event and we will be filing all the paperwork within the next month or so. When you get to SPADFEST, all you have to do is bring a current AMA card.

The Spadfest 08 Cafe Press store is up an ready for business! I know I said I was not going to do them, but since it only took a little bit of my time to set it up, it is done. There has been a minimal mark up on the items, in an effort to recoup some of the money I lost last year, on the shirts and caps.

Note The Value Tees only have the graphic on the front, there are no graphics on the back.

Later,
Omaha

You should have a picture of it somewhere. I know I used it for my SPADworld avatar. Real man sandles are fine, till you have to flip em off to get it the REAL nasty, gooey mud. Actually, sandles that strap on would probably be ideal as they'd probably stay on your feet when your wading in the mud. That's why I liked the flip flops, I didn't have to go back in after my shoes, just left em at the side of the field.

Cool, I can go ahead and order my shirt now and have it washed and ready to wear at SF08. You didn't set up the clock option? Nah, don't do it, I have a Vulcan 900 clock coming I think.

Ya know, I was trying to figure out how to do a count down clock to Spadfest and just gave up trying. It would be a nice addition to the site. Maybe I'll try to work on the clock/calenda

Great news. Talked too the boss today and we looked at the schedule. He flipped a few days around with another guy and we will be there. I have the time off. Now to let the weather warm up enough too get some more flying in. It's been below zero since monday night and wind chill factor yesterday was -46 degrees Farenheit.

I took my Debut out for a little flying on monday afternoon just before sundown. When I got too the field it was 39 degrees and 10 MPH winds. I fueled up and launched. Within 5 minutes the wind was at 25 MPH and the temp dropped to 29 degrees. I landed and headed for home. One 10 minute flight is better than nothing and flying into the wind and just hanging there at 1/2 throttle is a blast. Just brought her almost straight down in a hover. Landed and backed up 2 feet. Killed the engine and she flipped over. What a day.

See you all at SF-08.

Nope. We be bringing the mobile home with a big oh trailer being pulled behind. Last year was the maiden trip for the Mobile home. Falcon thought as long as we were going, may as well see if she was up too it.

Falcon has a trailer you wouldn't beleave. Or maybe you would. I can only wish too have something that big someday. Think we will have enough hanger room to bring everything we both have in SPADs and still have a couple open spots for planes. You got too see it to beleave it.

Too all you out there into SPADs, if you have never been to a Spadfest, you need to come. Great people, one of the best fields I've seen, great flying, and more. Start putting $2 a day in the hidden jar and before you know it, you'll have what you need. Stay at the field in a tent and bring your cooler with water, pop, hotdogs, etc. The gas is the only part that will be costly.

Oh, and bring a plane or two with transmitter and fuel. I'm sure you can use someones glow and starter if need be.
