I was also thinking about the stab and how to best insert the 1/2 inch dia. aluminum tube I bought.
If I were building it from the beginning, I would have installed the tail wheel retract assembly first so that I know exactly where I need to place the lite ply former that goes behind the tail wheel mount bulkhead. Depending on the tail wheel assembly used (I dont know since I've never built one of these before), there might need to be a little tweaking to the lite ply former for any clearances. But after that was done I would then sheet one side of the stab and then cut out the channel in the foam for the 1/2 tube and epoxy the tube in ONE HALF of the stab. Then, I'd finish sheeting it leaving the channel open and after they're removed from the shucks, I'd fill the channel with whatever thickness balsa stock and sand that to contour on the one that has the tube in it. Then I would align the stabs on the fuse and then slide the other stab in place and epoxy everything like before and add the balsa stock and sand it to contour like done previously. Since I was able to shoehorn the elevator joiner wire in through the 3/8 diameter holes I drilled in the elevator roots on the fuse, you could take a tube and slide it through the fuse to help keep the stab T.E. parallel.

I hope this all makes sense. I had to go through it several times in my head while typing it since I didn't actually get to do it. What I am going to have to do is grind a channel with the stabs already in place and slide the tube in from the bottom of one side of the stab.

I'd post pics of my idea for you but I dont have any that I can take.

Sounds like you are thinking it through, and I am sure you will find the best solution. Isn't that the fun part of building LOL
I will think of a good way to do mine as well. Hope others join in that have a Byron Corsair, all information is helpful.

Actually, the fun part of building an airplane is completing it, taking it to the field and flying it only to have some nimrod turn on his TX on the same frequency. LOL

Yes we have frequency control. We only impound during contests and events. Other than that, the control board is used.
More work on the flaps tonight. The leading edge is now rounded. I need to remove 3/16 of an inch from the bottom of the wing glass, that will allow for the leading edge of the flaps to insert into the trailing edge. I will probably need to do more sanding just to get it exact. I plugged in the wings to confirm the cut line for the flap in the outer wing panel. Just reading the instructions a couple of times (100) LOL to make sure I get it right. Put on the tail portion just to have a look, and taped on the ailerons. There sure is a difference between the two pieces of glass, one cleaned and washed, the other right out of the box.

Spent the evening working on the flaps. I cut out the flap on the slide in wing panel, glued the leading edge on and will let it harden overnight. I cut away 3/16th of an inch from the bottom glass on the trailing edge. Inserted the four flaps sanded them on the edges for a good fit. Turned out better than I had thought. The hinging will be next, then I will sand the flaps so they sit in a bit looser than they are right now. These are taking a while, but well worth taking my time.

Thanks Peter. They turned out pretty good so far. Once they are hinged I can clean them up so they will look better, and more scale like. I had to remove the rear dowel pin on the wing because it will interfer with the flap. I will insert another rear pin and some plywood, after my flaps are good to go.

Been looking at the flap linkage, servo location, rear dowel plate location, etc. I have seen some previous pictures of the set up. Seems relatively straight forward, however.............
Servo location, how deep into the wing from the edge. There is two linkages running off the servo, does one go behind the rear pin mounting hole, and one in front?
It also seems that some relief will need to be cut, for the servo wheel, and the linkage that goes to the outboard servo, in the root of the slide in wing. I have also noticed that the rear pin will need to be moved forward from the mark located on the root cap, as it does interfer with the flap section. I needed to remove my rear pins when cutting out the flaps.
I am looking for some comments on the set up, and it seems that the rear pin is important for alignment.

That's how my corsair has the servo mounted and the pin hole to align the outer wing is only on the front. Airplane has about 30 flights on it.

Thanks for posting those pictures. I was wondering how you are running the outboard flap?
Well I drilled the holes for the flap hinges, cut out the corners for the ball links, and have the flaps set on the trailing edge for the next step.
