Thanks for taking the time to post updates. Your workmanship looks terrific. This is a fascinating kit to build and you will have one sweet flyer when you are finished.

Dave,
Thanks for the kind words. I really enjoy building and hope people are enjoying the thread.

The UPS man arrived with a shipment of servos and the Rx. Will be using PCM for the failsafe aspect. Changed my servo selection some. I went with the Futaba S3152 for the Ailerons.
http://www.servocity.com/~servo/html/s3152.html

Futaba S9202 for the Rudder and Elevator halves.
http://www.servocity.com/~servo/html/s9202_heli_air_ball_bearing.html

Standard BB servo for the throttle. Will be running at 6v so no shortage of muscle. Likely overkill but I saw a friends biplane auger in when he stalled his servos in a power dive. Similar weight and power to the WWR, he was running 4.8v and standard servos.

Well the build is progressing. Got off track with spring Honey Do's

The Horizontal Stab is pretty straightforward. The Keel components are butt glued then the TE 1/2 in balsa followed with the leading edge balsa parts. I glued the 4in wide center balsa after marking the cut line for the LE section. Cap strips added. I just need to add the 1/8 ply supports for the stab flying wires.

Elevators are also per plans. I did cut the LE balsa too long but was able to notch it out and properly place the E2 balsa and lite ply parts. The TE balsa was placed and then the cap strips. I lined up the strips based on the corresponding stab strip.

Thanks for the offer. I have someone going to the museum to do a photoshoot of the WWR planes when the exhibit opens again. It's been closed for renovations for the past few months.

Glad your enjoying the build. Jump in anytime with suggestions or tips.

Pete

Added the 1/8 ply plates to anchor the Stab flying wires. Used the balsa circle scrap as filler where the plates overlapped the lightening holes. Rough sanded the elevators and started the Rudder.

Was this an actual Byron Kit or the offering from Iron Bay?

Finished the Horizontal stab and elevators as well as most of the Rudder. To get a consistent shape I used a piece of pvc pipe cut it's length with sandpaper glued on. Same done on the elevators. Drill pressed the holes for the blind nuts. Table saw for the bevel and set the hinges leaving no gap. The blind nut needed to be trimmed where it was overlapping the bevel.

The Rudder ribs were missing so they were made from scrap stock and placed. Top and bottom edge balsa added and the rough airfoil shape sanded.
