I would let them cool to 125F before starting the charge , that is if they happen to be hotter than that after a flight / run. At a normal charge rate of 10amps. or less they will cool down more during the charge if the ambient temperature is 90F or below.

I have charged and flown or ran them back to back as many as 8 times in a row.
These are tuff cells (batteries) and can take most anything you throw at the them within reason.

I subject some of mine to what most would consider way past resonable and they continue to hang tuff.

One example is a 3S 2300 mAh pack which I charged at an average charge rate of between 15 and 20 amps. (6-8 minutes). This battery now has 322 flights on it and is still performing great.

Charles, I hope it is ok that I ask this question on this thread-I don't want to "hijack" it or anything like that. My question is, what kind of a charger do you use? I know you have talked about zip charging, but I am looking for something that was designed to charge these cells. Did I read a post from you that you can use an "Ice" charger and set it to LiIon through the LBA 10 with a certain setting and that will cut off the voltage at a certain setting? I can't remember if it was you or not, but I think it was. At any rate, I have an Ice charger, and was hoping you could shed some light on that for me.

If anyone knows the answers, please chime in. I just asked Charles specifically because of his post here.

Again, if I am breaking etiquette, please let me know, so I don't do it again.

Thanks,
Matt

well there are many and I use a TP-1010C , a modified AF-109 (you can now purchase a A123 ver),I also use both the US and import dapters with old Ni chargers ans well as my Zip charger with DIY voltage cut off device. Hyperion, FMA , and many others make A123 compatible chargers also. Even A123 Racing sells a 2S/3S charger.

Using what you have namely an ICE. As I have stated numerious times charging these cells to over 3.6-3.8 will not kill them. It may demish thieir life a little but as my 3S MUS Zip charged packs shows not that big of a deal. 322 fast, high amp. overvoltage charges abd still doing just fine.
Back to ICE use the Li Ion 3.6 per cell charge to 4.1 per cell setting (if it has one). I know Tritons and many othe Li chargers do but I do not own an ICE.
Use the ICE set for Li Io,LiPoly or Ni in conjuction with a Hyperion LBA10 set to the A123 mode in the in-line safety disconnect mode. When a cell reaches 3.9V the charge wil be stoped.
Purchase a Dapter US or import but I prefer the import.

If you are a DIY type build a voltage cut off device. A very good one in the DIY Forum on RC Groups.

I run 2 4600 on a 35% extra 260 and I do not have to charge them during the day of flying, I just charge them the previous day are before I go to the flying field and i usaly doin't have to worry about them.

I also have ran 2 2300 in a 33% aircraft and again did not have to worry about charging them during the day, and as for charging them you have to use the charger made for it the A123 charger from horzine.
