anyone take and hack apart old walkmans, cassete players, VCR's, radio's, electronic junk like that, and then turn it into a robot, well, that is what I am doing now, I am taking the ever popular HERBIE PHOTOVORE and am atempting to build this little guy inside a old computer mouse, just got started, so, pics later, if anyone has BEAM creations, questions about it, things like that, feel free to ask here, keep you all posted on it

How did you find the photodiodes? The mouse has shaft encoders but I thought those were IR based.

the photodiode dealies are the black things, the IR transmitters are the clear thingies with the bump on them, for BEAM stuff, you want the transmitters, since they are sensitive to ALL light, the recieverrs are to weak

Ok So I bought a book...
Junkbots, Bugbots, and Bots on Wheels
And I took 3 computer mice apart. Now I have a pile of caps, resistors, buttons, a switch, leds, and those photodealies.. both parts. I also took apart 2 servos and removed the circuit board so I can have a few geared motors. That also got me a nice pot. Sumobot here I come!
