Gary, already printed #106 out to use as a reference.

Heck it would be great if you put out a "rebuild" kit. I'd be first in line.
Let me know.

Yeah the VQ is just plain jinxed. First the crappy glue job on the gondola, and fowler flaps, then one of my other birds took a header off the rack and kamakazed into it doing even more damage. Then just to top it off, had one of the packs let go on it's first set of taxi runs.

Looked impressive, smoke billowing out of the right boom area. Looked like it was returning home after being shot up.

So, do you get extra points from the scale judges?

All kidding aside, sorry for your problems, but eagerly awaiting Gary's maiden!

Pictures or video?

Let me know how it goes with #106. I need to know if it can be printed out in the correct scale, based on the dimensions included.

Nitro sold or is selling a lot of these I think, and I would really like to make "up-grade kits" available. I may enlist a friend to help with the production. I would supply formers , mounts, and other vital wood parts (and maybe the hinges), and the CF wing tubes and sleeves, and the builder would supply the stock wood and supplies.

Gotta get this thing in the air first.

Like this? Right gun pod / battery location, afterwards. And packs that were in the right pod.

Whole bottom/right side of the bird looks like it flew thru a flak attack, soot stains and spots all the way to the tails.

Anyhow, may your luck be better. And keep me posted on the kits if you go that route.

WOW, what a shame. Looks repairable though.

I'm definitely going to offer a kit for the kit. We need to come up with a catchy name for the concept. Moref-N-ARF, or ARF Transformers. I don't know. ...Something like that. Maybe just RTI -ARF- MODS (ready to install ARF modifications). I'm getting with a friend this week end to talk about it.

Thanks for the encouragement. When they are ready, I will post their availability and cost here first, for those interested among you who have been following my work. Then, I'll probably make them available in the market section. That is the way I see it now anyway. Ideas or feedback will always be appreciated.

I will do international shipping on these also.

Dom, that's my name sake.

Gary, start working on a kit for me. I just sold my VQ. I got a notice yesterday about someone wanting it. E-mailed him photos to show everything, and was made a very generous offer.

The buyer is going to convert it back to gas. So Saturday I'll be stripping out the electronics, and crating it up.

I'm going to order a N/P version soon as the check clears.

Roger that. Question. How would you feel about getting the kit with all the formers and mounts for everything with some instructions, and then a list of parts I used with their sources, for all the other stuff. If I try and supply everything (except the gear) it will take awhile and be quite an outlay of money up front for me. A lot of the stuff a guy can order and then be working on other things while he waits for delivery, especially since I have already done all the engineering to make the parts I'll list work.

These ARFs are cookie-cutter so I think this will all work well. I'd like some feedback on that scenario, from you who are interested in the conversion. Thanks.

PS....congratulations on your sale. Probably much better an outcome than you even hoped for.

Gary, that type kit would be perfect. I probably already have a lot of the hardware/struts/ retracts and such already. I just want you for your mind, not your money.

And yes the outcome was MUCH better, I had actually planned on tossing it in the bonfire, I was so upset about it.

Dom, I'm sorry I missed your question. Honestly I don't know. I've looked inside the gun pod to see if I could find any sort of sharp area left from when I glassed them, but I found none.

Only 2 of the 3 cells exploded in the one pack, the other pack just got scorched. Voltage check on the basicly undamaged pack showed nearly 12 volts, so there was no under draw.

The two packs on the other side were fine and they were all wired together to make a 6S2P pack. I'm just guessing but one of the cells just left go, and took out the other one. The main leads on the pack were undamaged, even the charge leads were only scorched where the fire occured.
