Got the supercharger intakes done. Here they are. I used Estes rocket nose cones, shaped balsa for the front, and shaped 1/2" triangle stock for the mounts.

About time you got back here. I started dry fitting mine together this week end. Somehow ended up short a prop.

GG, very nice work, and even comes with nose gear!!! Looks like you will beat me into the air with a beautiful P-38. I''m working on the cockpit while I wait for other parts. I have some flat black foam core sign board that is making some nice light panels that don''t need paint. I''ll have some pictures soon.
For those interested, I now have some material to cut out some formers and ribs. I am tweaking my patterns before I do.

Me too Gary, I'm already thinking about another one for the Hangar.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with in addition to what I have done. Lots of potential with such a light plane to begin with. It will be a pleasure to help in anyway I can. Wish we could bring them together somehow. 'I have a dream' .

Well, after much waiting, the nose gear is under way. I have the mount designed (templates made)[)], built, and ready to install. I should have it installed tonight. Then I can get her on her feet and see if my calculations are good for a scale like angle of attack on the ground, unlike the stock Nitro version. Much easier to have plans to work from, but everything just takes a little longer to design as you go. The wedge in the mount puts the tire just clear of the door, yet still leaves a scale like angle to the 105 deg. nose strut when down.

Finally got her up on her feet. Everything is working out well. Good, scale, nose high angle of attack, good strut angle, feels solid. Plenty of room for the steering servo, and cockpit. Still need to work out the hinging of the nose gear door, but so far so good.

Door works great. I figured out where to put the pivot point (not where I expected), and the curved door just clears the bottom and looks fine. I'm working on the operating system for the doors now (trying to avoid air cylinders), and getting the center pod painted. Pictures later tonight.

Here is the nose gear door. I found that if the hinge is set to pivot about 1/4" back from the edge, is swings well clear of the opening, even being curved as it is.

Doors on the 38 look good ram3500. I'll have to keep this thread saved so I can go off it to do my gear doors like that. I have the KMP P-38 with 2x evo 61's on it.

Got a little more paint on the pod. I'm going to add some panel lines and other details like the ladder outline, and the recognition lights to the bottom yet. I also pulled out the 'guns' that Nitro installs in the nose, so I can install ones more scale in length and also add the cannon that they didn't deem necessary.
