Hi guys have any of you flown the YAK 54 / .60 from seagull ? what 's been your experience with this bird ? have you any tips about settings, cg , best engine to perform ? just bought one and want to install a saito 100 on this plane.

My comment about the plane just out the box are: very good wood quality, good construction, outstanding hardware quality, overall IMHO some of best ARF's in the market.

Hope will read your comments here soon.

Txs.
Rafa

CHECKMATE THE ONE ON THAT THREAD IS A 90 - 120 SIZE ENGINE YAK, THIS THREAD IS ABOUT 60 SIZE ENGINES YAK.

CARLOS IT SEEMS LIKE JUST TWO PERSONS HAVE BOUGHT THIS PLANE SO FAR, HAVE YOU FLOWN YOURS YET?.

IF NOT LETS SHARE OUR EXPERIENCES HERE, HOW ABOUT THAT ?

IM CONCERNED ABOUT CENTER OF GRAVITY, I'VE READ ON THE OTHER YAK 54 THREAD THAT CG IS NOT CORRECT AS STATED IN MANUAL, FOR THIS PLANE BALANCING AS PER MANUAL STATES IS: 6.5 - 7.5 CM (650MM - 750 MM) BACK FROM LEADING EDGE OF THE WING, MEASURED AT WING TIP, AND FOR WHAT I UNDERSTOOD ON THE OTHER THREAD IT SHOULD BE MEASURED FROM WING ROOT.

i have not flown mine yet i am still debating converting a gasser with ei to try on this. It will initially fly with a saito 72. i did find the balance description odd on that plane because i have never balanced a plane on the wing tip. i typically balance at the spar point and adjust from there but most of my experience is sport airplanes. i just started putting mine together. cut away covering for wings to mount. these are beautifully built arf's. i kinda think people don't know there is a 60 size of this airplane because in my post someone told me to fly it with a sait 120 or higher and did state that he was talking about the 90 size. i need a rudder servo and a bigger battery to complete radio gear. i am converting to 2.4 this might be the plane i fly it on. i have tried it on my electric cap bp from eflite and like it so far. i have a Futaba 7C fast system. I will get posting my results in there then we can keep this up as the thread for the 60 size.

OK Carlos good luck on yours, I 've finished mine and waiting for a Saito 100 to arrive, since I read CG issues on the other thread I downloaded a german software to determintate CG results say its at 142 mm from LE at center of wing, hope it helps.

I guess I am the third to purchase the model. I am going to try using a os fx 61. I just have to mout my servos, receiver, battery, and cowl. I am contemplating trying to use v-tail mixing on the elevator if it is possible. I also thought the cg location was strange. Please let me know if the cg that you noted works well.

Just epoxied in the stabilizers and hinged the control surfaces on mine. still looking at engine options. going to a swap meet and most likely going to look for a saito for a decent price. OS fx will definitely pull it around. I have a futaba 7C 2.4 which has ailervator mixing which will allow for dual elevator servos.

Let your engine choice lean towards a Saito 100 and a 15*6 APC and you will be able to do anything with it. I have mine balanced between the the two recomended points but I may need to make it a tad more tale heavy but it seems to tip stall heavilly with it like that. But man is it a blast to fly. If I remmember correctly it was around 8.5lbs.
