Hi Mike,
Have a Hitec Flash 5 X. Would like to know if you can cause
any damage to the radio by leaving it powered on with the
crystal in and antenna collapsed. Read some posts that if using
radio with simulator software to remove crystal or extend antenna.

Yes, it is possible to overload the output transistor that way.
