I think the only way I would buy a large scale Corsair, or any other plane, would be if it had a glass fuze. I really can't see spending a lot of money and getting a build-up fuze, so I better be glass or it's not in my hanger.

I almost hate to enter this dogfight. I have an 84" Corsair with Robarts and a 3.2 Brisson and enjoy it alot. It's mine and I fly it. The kit is the foam NWHT kit, now JDM Models. Everyone bad mouths Jack Devine and the non-perfect outlines. I'm a sport flier who enjoys a Corsair and I like mine. I appreciate all the scale "nuts" who produce fantastic models. I do not have the techniques, experience, or desire to drive myself crazy detailing a warbird. Don't mean to aggravate anyone, but that's my story.

It's a good story and you should stick to it

You bring up a good point. This IS a hobby and there is a wide range of cash, skill and ability to build and fly. Do what your satisfies your Corsair itch.

If a company like Top Flite released a GS Corsair ARF, would the sales of the kit version be adversly effected? Would sales justify design/production costs? The numbers have to make sense to the bean counters. I'm sure there's tons more that goes into a decision to design/release ANY plane (be it ARF or kit)than the lay person could ever be aware of. For example, look at the TF GS 'Stang...I'm sure it's been very succesful for Great Planes but it's not just an assembled version of the kit. If the 'Stang has been so popular, why not design and release a GS ARF version of their big P47 kit? I can't think of any reason this wouldn't make money since P47's are very popular and they are arguably one of the best flying planes out there. So here comes the new B25. How risky was that decision and who could have predicted that? Was the B25 ARF picked as their next big ARF because it would make more money than a GS P47 ARF?? Who knows how these company's decide what they will do next. I for one love the bigger planes and don't really have the time or desire to build "kits". I'm obviously not alone on this so I think it's a fairly safe assumption that we'll be seeing more GS ARF's in the future! Sounds good to me!!!

Good post fytrjok, and who knows what they are thinking when they make decisions on what planes to build. I think the B-25 was a good move because you have a set number you know who will buy it. Then you have the "crossover buyer". These are the guys who have no real interest in a certain plane but when the see it they have to have one. Me for instance. As I said before I had no interest in putting another P-51 on the flight line with the 50 million other ones untill I saw the new SIG P-51B. Didn't take me long to push that "buy now" button. I think if the H9 or the TF giant P-51 would have been a "B" model, that would have pushed me over the edge sooner. I hope TF is getting tired of H9 kicking their butts. Competition is good for us.

Well men,I to would like a GS corair.I watched Corsair jock fly his[electic] and really enjoyed it.I have the TFGS P51 and the hanger 9 P47 and love to fly both.I also have a Bud Nosen P47 [I don't know if I'll ever finnish it] and would like to have a 85" corsair[arc] too,but will wait like the rest of you for that. The only problem with the Corair is I have watched a few "Yaw" badly at hi speed, have that on film.I'm sure that TF or H9 will come up with one soon. Both of these planes,TF & H9 fly great,I have no problems with either of them, take off and landing.Tom

hi

just my two cents, but you can't tell me that a b-25 arf will out sell a corsair giant arf. top flite would sell the #$&*@ out of them, i can't belive they let hangar 9 beat them to the p-47 giant arf. i say this because top flite's quality tends to be a little better, but at this point i don't care who makes one. it will sell just fine and it's not about money, cost to make, the b-25 they both made i know cost more to develop than a corsair would. no kits or arf existed previously to that plane, but such does exsist in the corsair. corsair is top 5 in popularity amoung warbirds always has been mabye higher, it' a no brainer!

I sent emails to TF and H9 to there suggestion box about this thread. Maybe they will keep an eye on this and I hope to hear back from them. It might help if some of you guys did the same.

<<Retracts for a TF giant corsair are $289.99 tail retract $109.99.>>

BBOwen,

Exactly what brand retracts are you referring to at that price?

Also, About this Poll, It makes no difference how many people would "NOT" buy an ARF at 85", what matters is "HOW MANY WILL."

I said ealier, I'd purchase two, and I meant it. There's nothing better than an all wood model, especially if one desires to make changes to it.

As I believe "most" of us would make changes. So, with this said, possibly, the answre to our dreams, at least mine, would be an ARC.

Even if the engineering and building has "short falls" I'm sure I can take care of that.

An "ARC Corsair spaning 85", at what price?", could be the next poll?

Otherwise, anyone got a Top Flite kit, started or not, at a deal price? :-)
