I've a P-40 that's ready to test fly. My next project is going to be a 81" OV-10 Bronco that will be electric powered and I'll be able to run scale props too. I just bought all 11 servos at the Ontario AMA show.

What motor/speed control are you going to use?

That will depend on final weight. Initially my plan was for 4120 if the model is under 7 Lb, and 4130 for more than that. But any other motor will be suitable as long as is in the 1000-1300W range. It should not be a problem to replace one with another if is necessary. Speed in range of 65-80A depend on motor. For batteries probably 5-6 lipo or 16-20 NiMH. Don't know yet, but somewhere there I think.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm just glad I can help. I've been working on full size warbirds part time since 1980 and started building models when I was 8. I retired early from my goverment job and now I restore warbirds full time. Life is great!!! I get to live my dream!! Hopefully I can test fly my P-40 tomorrow, but tonight is jet night. I'm putting together a PST F9F Panther at my buddies house. I love Grumman aircraft!!

See I've always wanted to restore warbirds, but here in New England, there is just no way to do it. You either gotta be in Florida, Texas or California. I guess I live vicariously thru my RC planes.

I'm always very slow when it comes to filler. Last week was mostly filler and sanding. Now the fin is ready too.

Here is the beginning of the stabilizer. All will be covered with 3/32 balsa and thin fiberglass and epoxy.

Thanks! I'll try to make all details first. To make them match together well, then glass everything and then work on small details before making the molds. May be is not best way, but i really hope to work well.

The test flights went well. I got 2 flights on mine and my buddy had engine troubles so didn't get his into the air yet. They are CMP P-40E-50 size. Mine has the stock black spinner and an OS.46 for power. It flew great! I have the engine out now as the plywood used is soft and it's starting to compress. I little modification is in order. I'm also going to replace the stock wheels with Robart wheels that are larger. And replace the spinner as well
