I updated my AFPD.

I am not happy.

Graphics are very choppy. The background moves in jumps, not smoothly.
The camera won't follow the plane up off the top of the screen.
Then if I come back down it leads so the plane does not come back in frame until just before it hits the ground.
The plane looks too small now as well, but the scenery is the same size as before.

Running on a P4 3.2 gig machine,1G ram, NVIDEA 7600 video card.
1920x1200 @ 60 hz

It all worked fine on 1.9.07.11.

Can I run the old patch to go back, or do I have to start over from scratch?

Thanks,

Pat MacKenzie

Hi Pat, can you check what is the version number printed on your main AFPD disk? Thanks

Hi Pat, in this case you only need the 1.8.0.25 patch. The 1.11.7.9 patch you installed is not suitable and will require a higher video card performance. You will have to completely uninstall and reinstall your AFPD and apply patch 1.8.0.25 The uninstall/install instructions, and patch can be found here http://www.aerofly.com/www/downloads.html

To save your time in setup, you could backup the "config" folder in the AFPD directory. After you have installed AFPD, just copy back this folder into the AFPD directory

That is what I figured I would end up doing.
I had patched higher than the base before, so I will probably up it to where I was.

The video card I have should be good enough, but perhaps not at the 1920 x 1200 resolution i run?

The video was better with the photo scenery, but I usually use "ForestLake".
Before I "downgrade" i will fly a bit in a photo scenery to see if it was better or worse.

But what is the deal with flying off the top of the screen? That would be a deal killer for me.

Thanks,

Pat MacKenzie

Hi Pat, you should only use patch 1.11.7.9 if you have addons 3 and/or 4. If you use patch 1.11.7.9 with no addons and/or addon 1 and 2, you will see some issues regardless of your video card

Hi Pat, I was having the same problem that you are having. I tried to download the Cularis from a disc that I got from my cousin in Germany. It screwed up my whole system, everything was jerky. I tried to delete it without much luck. Then a friend mentioned to go to restore and go back a few months and that got me back to where I was. By the way my favorite plane is the Bucker Jungmeister, did you ever try to fly it? Just for the heck of it try and land it without a bounce, impossible! Rayjay

hvta, reduce your "height dependant vertical camera" and you should solve your problem. You could try a % between 50 and 100

Hi hvta, great! I actually use 100% for the vertical camera delay as I like to do spins (upright, inverted, and KE) from a higher attitude. You'll find that with a lower setting, your flying attitude is limited. It's a matter of personal preference.
