Wow, that look pretty good. I have a 1/4 scale Bud Nosen Mulligan almost ready to cover also. Mine will fly with a Quadra 50 (looks nothing like your engines, sorry) but I am told it will fly fine with a G38. I have no idea what engine that is. There are several people that have built this plane and are very happy with it (the Nosen plans). If you post this on the Scale thread you might get a few more comments. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

The engine appears to be an Echo 40cc out of a back pack blower.
It should have 3 piston rings. You can check through the exhaust port.

I may be mistaken but I believe the engine turns clock-wise facing the engine.
You may be able to get by turning the flywheel over, but you will have to check it out for yourself.
I took apart another Echo blower and it turned the wrong was so I'm assuning this one does too.

I have a 1/4 scale Mr. Mulligan I've almost finnished.
I just need to put the wing struts on her and she should be ready.

This has been a 2 year project for me, and it was partically built when I got it.

Hey Ralph,
Is that a fiberglass cowl you have there? If so, where did you get it? I have acquired a nosen Mulligan that is mostly built and I don't like the looks of the plastic one.
Thanks,
Alan

It came with it.
Sorry I don't know more about the kit.

I can ask Jack wehere he got the Cowl but I think I'm the 3rd owner,

I've heard these fly like a big cub.

I'm powering mine with a G-62

I guess I am going to use a G-45 since I have a practically new one sitting around. I would rather have a G-62 myself, I may try to trade or something.

I'll check with Fiberglass Specialties or something. Maybe they will have the cowl for it.

Thanks anyway,
Alan

I bought my G-62 for $325 with EI on it all ready.

I checked and there is no markings on the cowl at all.

Wow, that's $100 cheaper than a new one from Horizon with a magneto. Maybe I should look around a little. It sounds like I will lose a lot of money if I sell my new G-45 though. Oh well....I guess I'll just have to find another plane to put it on.

Thanks for checking on the cowl for me.

Thanks,
Alan

I think it should fly well with a 45cc engine.

When I purchased the G-62 I didn't have any gas engines.
The weight is almost the same as the 45 and so was the price so I went with the G-62.
If everything goes well this weekend I could finish it up, but don't hold your breath.
There is almost always the unforeseen.

Like the receiver is still in the mail.

Ralph at rc ignitions is converting a 61cc Echo chainsaw for me.
It probally doesn't have the power the G-62 has but it is smoother and should sounds better.

From what I have hear a G62 will be a huge overkill for the plane. Most I have seen fly like rockets with a G38. But like Bama, I had a Quadra 50 sitting around. You will be very happy with a G62 ralph

Check this engine out, I have several of these.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350016339656

No plans came with it. I finished up the wings; the fuse was already done and painted.

Keith at BME used Echo as a base for his engines, and this is an older design.
Perhaps.... Who really knows?

Sitting here and looking at the wing tubes in the other wings I wonder,
Should I put wing tubes in it?
It would be a lot stronger, but the original builder did not plan on wing tubes.
So they probably weren't in the plans.

What do you think?

I just went out and double-checked the wing.

It has 2-3/8 dowels that align and add shear strength and 2-3/8 bolts.
There is not room in this wing to add a wing tube.
It's not thick enough.

Rulphbf,
From what I could tell my father build this wing one peace he build it with 1/2" airplane tubs. I guess it would add more stregth to it. I would like to rebuild with a three peace with tubing. sence he used all hard wood and niles with very little glue. I don't know where he got the plans but i could not find a Mulligan with the tile wheele build into the rudder as he build it.
