Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone out there has any experiences with the Alpha brushless motors or the Monsterpower motors sold by Nitromodels.com I am looking for a lower cost alternative to the Eflite park 480 or the Power 10 motors

I've had the 480 on my Great Planes Lancair for about 10 flights now. I made an usual motor mount by using the stock gear system from the Lancair through the rear bearing. The only problems aren't from the motor but probably from the Futaba receiver; small glitches. I would definetely buy another one for the price. I think it was $25 bucks and I'm using the 1400 nimh packs with 8 cells. It's a small pack, but I get a safe 7 minutes with a 40 min or less charge. I have the Alpha 480 which is a huge leap in power from a canned 400 stock brused motor. Good luck.

Stay at LEAST 100 yards away from NitroPlanes and any of their 30 some AKA's (like RaidenTech, xHeli, BananaHobby, etc. - look for a common phone number, sites that look the same, same product line, same Live Chat system). These guys sell planes from China that can't fly out of the box, leave items out of your orders and mae YOU prove you didn't get it and just try to get through to their (not)-customer service!

The other guy is right, order off of eBay, at least you have PayPal as a remedy to a crappy dealers.

Ps Mystery motors and LiPO are very good. No problems here.

Yes, i agree. I know that raidentech and nitromodels are the same for sure. I never buy they're rtf just the arf stuff from them. Never used any electrics from them either.

Another name i stay away from is Dynam.

I have used turborix motors ( same as mystery and e-max and probably others) they are pretty good depending on which style you get.

I have used mystery batteries. They must over rate the battery mah and c ratings. Batteries seem to damage easy (physically) if dented or bent they seem to be flaky.
Turborix battery seem to be a bit better and more durable.

I also have thunder power batteries. I had a couple bubble on me. There goes $80 each compared to $25 mystery.

Mystery esc are great. Easy to program and solid.

I used esky 9g servo which seem to work fine. I mostly use hitec micro servos and they are a bit more durable.

Over all the " Chinese" brands are poorer quality but they are a third of the cost. The brands name are not 3 times better.

I will continue to buy the less expensive brands and i am continually learning what to stay away from.

Hope this helps every one.

Who's Programming Card did you use for the Mystery esc??? I hear the Mystery ESC are the same as the Volcano ESC (they sure look the same) and I'm looking for a programming card for the Volcano ESC's too. (I wonder what other brands from China are actually the same too?)

I haven't had any problems SO FAR (knock on wood) with the Mystery LiPO's I've bought. I know some brands are more resilient and better packaged, but so many others of brand name look no better than the Mystery, so why not save the bucks (the stock E-Sky LiPOs are Mystery rebranded).

Ditto on the cheaper ( around $8 - $9) Chinese sweatshop micro servos, I even think the TowerPro transparent blue ones ARE the Hitec HT55's

On the NitroPlanes / RaidenTech etc etc AKA's subject - Beware of any of their package Styro planes and especially ANY of the Guanli planes. NONE of them will fly out of the box because of insanely underpowered motors and batteries, and crap radios and servos. Oh the planes themselves look "nice" (not as well made as GWS equiv's they copied) but they have many flaws in their designs and assembly. I've bought 4 different models so far and NONE can get off the ground, let along fly. One that does fly pretty nice is the Brushed Motor 3ch ExceedRC J3 Piper Cub - but the battery is still half the mAh it should be. Fun for a small park / football field flying site. Still, I'm converting it to Brushless.

The intruction come with the ESC. I use the throttle stick to make changes. Just listen for the beeps and look at the instructions. When the beep the you want comes up lower throttle from full to nill and change is made.

Yes, i already know all about the styroplanes. They are just a peice of chinese crap! The electrics suck, the styrofoam is so thin. I scared to look at them to hard, they may just snap. I had one corsair, and my brother bought one warbird off of nitroplanes.
