Yeah, it wasn't a very scale take off, but I was running out of runway It does have plenty of power for an electric plane. It will go verticle no problem. It flys great and landings are very easy with the flaps. It's quickly becoming my favorite plane.

Easydave, Thanks for the kind words...i too get inspired by other people's threads, so i'm glad i can help pass the torch. In regrad to the engine, I do feel that this plane is pretty lightweight (.60 size) and I think SIG was cognicent of the future being electric given how light it is...Point being is that That .91FS should fly her with a lil' to spare...really, It should be a perfect combo. In regard to the retracts, I've used "EZ" brand before and they are worthwile...no reason to not use them if you don't want to...I'm just one of the converted now, and I have a hard time not using air if I can help it. Take your pick...fooling around with the retract pushrods, or having one extra thing in your field tote box to futz with at the flying site. I use air for 2 main reasons...I like using regulators to give more realistic retract sequence, and also, I've lost a plane due to a retract servo draing that battery from the servos being under constant drawl. I've had loads of plane with teh mechs and they work well...So take your pic. I'll look around to se the link for the cockpit...I typically just g'oogle' P-51 cockpit and choose my favorites. I've attached the images I used, it'll take me a bit to find out where they came from since I just e-mail them to myself from random locations. FYI, I thpicallu do the 2 sides 1st, then overlap the pash on top of the 2 sides, between the dashboard, the pilot and all the stuff on the pics, the eye doesn't see all the descrepanies...So it works for me as a fast and cheap substitute to building o kit or one from scratch.

NoFlaps - Thanks so much for getting back to me so fast.
Question: Did you determine that the Top FLight Cockpit kit would not fit or did you just decide to make your own. I was thinking the Top Flight kit might be to large for the opening. Amyone else have a comment on this?
Been a big fan of Air Retracts for the same reasons you stated. Dont like all the push wires for mechanical. I am sure they would work fine but the Tubing is a lot easier to install along with the controlablity of the speed of the up and down motion.

NoFlaps, any progress yet? I already have about 20 flights on mine so far. Make sure you lock-tite the rear wheel collar set screw. Mine came loose and was a b*tch to keep straight

jmohn, I've been travelling for business all week and haven't had a chance to hardly think about it. Perhaps this weekend, I'll get some time. Say, on a seperate subject I saw your nitroplanes link on the tucanno, the video link is no longer there. If you could, would you please send me an e-mail ( sean.hagan@scaleintervention.com ) with pics of the retracts [nosewheel especially} and any info or video on how she flies. Thanks!

Got it Jmohn~ Thanks! ...I was able to see the pics, but the video crashed my computer. Well the good news is that my malcom canopy arrived (from our Canadian Friend Mr. Middlemiss) while I was out of town, so I quickly set it in place to see how she fits. The canopy is about 1" short, so the bad news is that one of 2 things must happen, I either need to build up more turtle deck as originally suspected or I'll need to move the entire cockpit area back about 1"...I'd rather do that, but it will be much easier to build a lil' extra razorback and conceal the work done with invasion stripes. Here's a pic.

The cockpit looks great! I would have done more to mine, but I wanted to fly it too much It's a great flyer and you will be very pleased once you get yours in the air.

Hi Sean,Other then the canopy being a little short like we figured how well does it fit the sig plane, over all does it look right on it . I'm thinking maybe I should add a little to my plug..Could you trace your turtle deck former and send me a copy like to see how close ,and maybe make that the back of my plug.hope your happy with it.
Hey Sean ,Yea please send me a copy of the template ,want to see how different the back is from the plug.shouldn't be to difficult to lenghten ,it was the covering and matching the new part to the old with out to much time and fussing that was bugging me,but I figured out away to do this and might even look better. And no fiberglassing. I'm a huge fan off the invasion stripes,I think they look great on all the planes.I did it on my .40 size p-51 and plan on doing them for my .60 and 1/5 and my royal b-25. But I 'm glad to hear your happy with your canopy.
Sooo......... every one is really happy with this plane? Any faults ? Looks good from my view, you know you can never have to many p-51's in your hanger. Might get one.
Thanks Joe

Well Impatience always gets the best of me and so i decided to do a combination of using the new canopy that I got and part of the existing/ supplied canopy from the ARF. I went ahead and m
