Forgot to mention to the post before mine. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE LINKS. Alot of cool information. I really like that **** did a mass PNP build thread. Cool pics too. Thanks again

Here was the video of my Magnum 4 Stroke. I put it on You Tube a couple weeks ago but just found out how to put it on the thread here for viewing. It is a short clip of the first time I turned it over. Enjoy.

HOPEFULLY THIS WORKS

The F-F-F-Four stroke looks pretty good, will it have the power to pull the extra weight, so where are you putting that plywood on the engine mount area, you don't want to change the thrust line on that thing but I am sure you know that. I thought I was the one that lost engines on landing, but that was with a cutting board engine mount, and I think that I have got building those down pretty good now

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/8/2008 4:29 AM)

I sure hope so. It will I only added a little 1/8 pieces below the engine mount to add some durability. All the other threads I have read did too. Alot of people complain of engine mount issues. Thanks the lord for rcuniverse.com...

First here are a few pictures of the work that I was able to get done this weekend. I got most of the fuse done except for skin and now I will be starting the wing struts. I am not looking forward to doing it because I will screw it up. Anyways I will work that one this week some time. Without further ado here they are. Oh one more thing I think the stringers on the tail turned out great. hopefully you can see it but the top string is a twisted piece of balsa. Looks cool!

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/14/2008 7:19 AM)

One more post for the night. Here are a couple pictures of the vertical and horizontal stabs. The vertical stab is obviously glued in but the horizontal stab is not. The plans state to wait but I don't see why. What s everyone else's experience with that part? Anyways I think everything looks really straight and perpendicular. So far so good. Enjoy and let me know what you think. Mark

I think I waited until after I'd covered the parts. Easier to make it look good that way.

Your frame is looking good, by the way. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the words of encouragement Phil. Honest truth how hard is it to screw up the wing supports? I am worry that it is possible to get them hard mounted and then I install the wing and the hole dont even come close. Of course everything is built per the plans but Newtons Law. How was your experience? Thanks again. Mark

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/14/2008 5:25 PM)

Another video from the shop. If I new how to put it in the post I would. If you know how please share.

nice video, plane is looking good, just keep plugging away at it and posting the pix....and the video was good

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/15/2008 5:47 AM)

Thanks buddy! I keep trying to plug away, I will be on leave next leave so I plan on getting a bunch done. i think that it is time to purchase some monokote. I need to start planning my design. What colors do you suggest? By the way where r the picutres at that you speak of. Mark

I had no trouble at all with the wing struts. Getting the wing incidence right wasn't difficult either. Just make the parts match the plans. I epoxied the struts into the pockets that are built into the fuselage, and have had no problems with them loosening up at all, even through two crashes. In fact, after the bad crash, when I made new struts, the hardest part of the rebuild was getting the remnants of the struts out of the fuselage.

I'll repeat again, 'cause it bears repeating! the junctions at the top of the struts is another matter! But the simple addition of a screw (I used an inch-long sheet metal crew in each of the four junctions) through the upright struts into the horizontal wing attachment pieces fixes it. No more worries.

Phil

Could you by any chance post some pictures of the way you added the screws. We love pictures.

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/21/2008 5:13 PM)

Got a little time last night to get some work done. I got the struts all cut out and temp installed and everything looks like it should line up just fine. Yes this is the part that will take me forever because I am afraid I will screw it up. Anyways looks like everything is level and will look great.

Also I colored a scheme for everyone. Let me know what you think. I am going to do green and blue and white. I like the way the fuse looks but not sure yet about the wing.

Anyways. Hope that you enjoy.

Mark

cmstone -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/22/2008 3:35 AM)

looks good so far, keep up the good work. Shouldn t be to long

spadeng -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/22/2008 5:06 AM)

Starting to look like a plane. So did you get a good deal on blue and green Monokote. Looks pretty ambitious compared to the Kugar, But I cant say much, you know how many planes I have covered, good luck.

ice the rc man -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/22/2008 12:38 PM)

Good work, coming along very nicely!!

Heres mine, maiden flightish, bought second hand and rebuilt and recovered, powered by a .40 4-stroke, it flies brilliantly and even with the .40 it'll climb at nearly 45ยบ

keep up the enthusiasm :D

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/23/2008 4:48 AM)

Hey nice lookin plane. the more and more I see PNP's I think i got to go with a vintage covering job. Anyways I am going to keep plugging away at this build it has taken me forever. Also I am glad to here that you are using a .40 4Stroke and it has plenty of power because I was worried i would not have enough power. I should be ok though.

Thanks for the post.

Mark

BY THE WAY THIS IS MY 100 POST YEAH!!!

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/23/2008 7:24 AM)

Hey do you guys have any Pete N Poke videos that you could post a link to on here?

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/25/2008 5:04 PM)

I need pictures on how you guys installed you throttle linkage. When i installed the tank and the 4 banger I discovered that I have a problem. It will take some work to get the throttle hooked up. If you have pictures please post them. Thanks

Mark

ice the rc man -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/25/2008 7:35 PM)

I've got a snake tube glued in and some thin piano wire bent to shape, works great, need to replace the Z bend with a plastic clevis at some point soon though :)

Oh, i've got a video on the camera too, i'll post a link once it's uploaded, might be a while tho

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/26/2008 4:20 AM)

Wow thanks for the pictures and the quick response. Ok now I see how to do it. I like the idea of the removable tank hatch I may steal that idea from you. How does the carb act with that fuel line looping around from the front! I have never had a 4 stroke motor before but with 2 strokes some dont like that at all. Well that is what I am going to do with mine thanks for your help.

Mark

Pictures should be coming tomorrow.

ice the rc man -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/26/2008 3:35 PM)

Doesn't seem to bother it, the fuel tube (red) has pretty much the most direct route posable without kinking considering the nipple is on top of the carb, the exhaust pressure tube does loop around in front of the tank, but that of course doesn't matter at all :D

The tank hatch wasn't my idea, was pretty much like that when i got it, i just added the screw fixings and re did the linkage :)

mkharv3 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (7/26/2008 3:55 PM)

Glad to hear things work just fine. I could tell by the flight pictures too. Well I am getting ready to head to the hobby shop now to get the linkage I need and a tail wheel.

Thanks again. Could I ask or another favor! how about some pictures of that fuel hatch.

Mark
