Hi GE,

The OS 46 LA is sufficient power for the PNP. You do have to use some care, especially on take off, to let it climb out slowly (as if it was a full scale plane). I fly my PNP with the 46 LA with a 12-4 prop, and once it's airborne I use just over half throttle to cruise, pushing it to WOT for the occasional maneuver. I love it. The LA has been on it for 4 years, I think. A lot of hours in the air and it hasn't missed a beat.

Enjoy,

Phil

Lee,

I am sorry I have been any help in responding but I was not aware people were posting on here lately. Your progress looks really good I am looking forward to the finished product. Even though I not posted anything lately I have gotten a couple things done. I sent you a reply about the tank hatch in an email I hope it helped. I will try to post some updated photos later today after church.

Thanks for keepin this thread alive all of you. I think the PNP is a beautiful plane that all should enjoy.

Mark

I'm hoping to post some pics next week, but since I'm on; 2 questions 1) how do you route the aileron wire connector down into the fuse area trying to make it clean looking-not really explained to well in the instrctions 2) routing antenna wire-I've got a 2.4 but not going to use it on this plane Thanks for your help. I'm covering the wing this week and out of town next weekend.. I'll post pics next week. should look pretty fun...black and yellow

Here is my Pete N Poke. A guy at our club bought it at a swap meet. However, it was tail heavy and was crashed twice on subsequent flights. He assumed that it must be too difficult to fly. He gave it to me in trade for building his new ARF. Once I repaired it, I found that is was very tail heavy and corrected the issue before my first flight. My OS 46FX handles this aircraft very well. In fact, it is a nice and docile aircraft. I've had it for a few years now, and it has become a camera platform. Next week, it will serve as a trainer. It is really a relaxing aircraft to fly.

Hey Guys,

First of all, thanks for all the great information about the PNP. Had looked at it from time to time on the web. I bought one (kit) this past weekend at our swap meet for $25.00. Looked in the box and everything seem to be there. Went to start it on Monday night, and then figured out why the kit was so low....the plans were missing! Got hold of Great Planes on Tuesday and a set should be here by Friday. As I build, I will post pics. Looking forward to a fun build!

Sorry but I have been neglecting my thread here. I have been busy as usual at work. Anyways I finally got my pilot installed, cockpit coaming installed. She is read to fly and I hope to maiden it this weekend. Also I opted to not use the static wing struts for now. They are a pain in the ass for me but I will rebuild them and try again. Anyways I hope you enjoy.

Thanks hopefully all will go well...

I just finished the PNP and already starting another one. I just can't get enough.

My next build thread is going to be a Sig Four Star .40. Please stop by and check my progress. Here is a link below.

One more photo my kid wanted me to add. Also I forgot to mention that the rear nylon bolt will be trimmed out so it does not stick out. Also I need to do something with those aileron wires. Anyways enjoy.

Good looking plane Mark. My plans arrived yesterday, so today I hope to get started. You will love the four start 40. I have one and it is a great plane to fly. Lot's of fun. Good luck on your first fligh with PNP! We all look forward to the flight report.

Well, I guess I shouldn't have posted my Pete here a little earlier. Naturally I had a mishap at the field. While landing in a crosswind, I caught a gust that caused my right wing to dip into the turf. It hung up and twisted the wing right off the fuse. The entire cabane was splintered. I am not looking forward to drilling out all that wood and rebuilding the cabane. RATS!

I followed your thread about the PNP. I am going to start mine soon. How did the Magnum 52 work out for you? That is what I was thinking about putting on mine. Thanks, Rick

Warbird 01 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (4/2/2009 12:58 AM)

I now have the fin, rudder, elevators and stab done. Only thing left to do is to cut the slots for the CA hinges and some sanding. Will start the center wing section tomorrow or Friday night. I am thinking of covering mine in cream and maroon. Will most likely put a OS 46 AX on her. I am really looking forward to fly this plane.

Sharpeye22 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (4/2/2009 5:10 AM)

Hi all,
I too have started building my PNP. The first thing I do is trace the plans so that I do not have to damage my original plans during the build process. Next is tapping the copy down and covering with wax paper. I pinned the die cut peaces on the board and cut and fitted the stick stock then CA'ed them all in place.

Sharpeye22 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (4/2/2009 5:32 AM)

I noted that the tail has some die cut peices that are doubled. So in the last step I glued down only one of the halfs. In this step I glued the other half over the 1st. To add some resistence to the wood splitting I glued some carbon vail between the halfs. You can just see it sticking out in the 1st picture of the rudder. I then waited it down till the epoxy set. I know epoxy is heavy but I used a very thin layer and I will be sanding and shaving wood away to compensate for the added weight.

Warbird 01 -> RE: Great Planes 40 PETE N POKE Sport Build! (4/2/2009 2:25 PM)

Looking good there Larry. Some of my pieces had some slight gapage, but I filled them with expoy. The kit would be better if they could change the grain direction on the pieces when doubled, but they could also make it so that the joints would overlap. This would increase the strenght some too. What colors are you thinking of?

Wow I am glad to see people are enjoying this thread.

Your plane is coming along just great. Hopefully we can help you through the process.

I look forward to following.
