Man, I cant wait to order this plane. I crashed my last 3d plane on its maiden, and I dont have the funds to replace the same exact model again, so I'm going with the this NitroModels Extra 260. I will be ordering on Feb 1st!

Does anybody have anything bad to say about this plane (other than hardware) ?

Are you talking about this one?

CLICK ME!

If so you'll love it.

You may want to change out the tail wheel, but the rest of the hardware is fine.

Some change the pin hinges for the Dubro ones, but I see no reason to, the supplied ones are fine.

The landing gear are CF as are most of the rods.

Nice plane.

I and a freind just ordered one each, one blue and one red. I chose the red one but admit that the blue looks a lot better in person than the photos on the NP site give it credit for. You already know about the hardware horror. I replaced all of it except the actual control surface control horns. I have not yet completed it as I am awaiting "payday" to get the nessisary servo extentions and fuel tubing. The tail feather servos mount in the tail just in front of the horizontal stabalizer. That is a plus for me as I have interior access to the tail to add weight if needed. I hate lead on the outside of a plane. I fit an OS .55 ax with a 13x4 APC wide and a Bisson pitts muffler on the nose using a Great Planes adjustible motor mount. No issues doing so. Without even giving the plane a chance I also epoxied 4 peaces of triangle stock to the back of the fire wall to ensure it does not seperate as I have seen in the past. The plane is very lightly built but as I am not done I can't give you an AUW yet. Historically speaking though these models tend to come in heavier than advertised. I paid a weight penalty by replacing the main wheals and tail gear as well as my engine selection over the "recomended" .46... I do not feel this plane will 3D well with a .46. The covering job is above average for the typical ARF. Not many wrinkles and no trouble removing them.

Do to the construction of the plane reinforcing the landing gear block will take som creativity that I as of yet have not done. It will be the weak spot on this plane. Be gentle I guess. The entire belly of this plane is formed from soft balsa longerons that will snap on impact should they be stressed. This of course is the price for light weight 3D capable planes. The landing gear is proprietary so after market upgrades will not work with it. Custom made gear will be your only option there but the suplied aluminium gear is very light anyway. The wing tube is a fairly heavy alluminium tube that would be well replaced with carbon fiber. In fact I would sudjest the factory include a carbon fiber wing tube and keep their hardware.

EDIT// Oh the wheel pants are worthless unless you customize a better mounting meathod... I just decided to leave them off and make up some weight.

Too many Extra's not enough time!

That looks fairly light.
