Looks like it fit back in the case.
What did you end up with for TIR?

Vicman, Dave,
How did you get it out of the case and bearings? I warm the case up then use a vice or arbor press. With a bent crank I would think it would jam up. Not true?

Edwin, you have to use one of those special curved arbor presses.

....'yer welcome, Craig....

....let's see how that baby runs. The concern with a bent crank is....will the engines
run smooth after that heavy of a crash. Make sure to use a nicely balanced prop to
give the engine a chance to "regroup". I find that a disassembled engine takes about
a half hour's running or so to get back in shape.

Use plenty of castor with that engine, the more the better.

FBD.

Dave;
The crank/block came in the mail yesterday I put everything back together and it turns over real good I will have to wait untill I get a thrustwasher/drivewasher and spinnernut to try it out. I too am a believer in castor

I can see a new plane in the future

Dave;
I used the carb that was on that engine on a 40fp,so now I have to scrounge another carb

I have no doubt about it running when I get all the parts

....good deal. I am anxious to see how it runs, especially in the smoothness department.

I have two more engines coming in the mail for crank straightening, and another fellow is
sending a connecting rod for me to stress relieve by bead blasting.

Is this fun, or what ?

FBD.

The plan for today is to run the FP on the test stand,then rob all the parts I need for the LA from the FP and run it too

dang clouds and wind keep me from flying today, but I WILL burn some nitro

If all go as planed I can report tonite

....great, Craig. I flew Monday and Tuesday....then my weather went bad too....wind and
snow yesterday. I did have a chance to do some small repairs and stuff on the three planes
I took out. I still have one to look at....the main needle is really hard to turn in a Magnum
.91 four stroke....that one has me scratching my head, what would cause that ?

FBD.

my guess would be some "O" ring in the threads or maybe some castor varnish

I did indeed run both the FP and the LA ,of the two the LA was the smoothest @ WOT but sounded like a drum below 1/3 throttle. I am thinking its the plastic back cover that's making so much noise.

the crankshaft straightening job was right on, MANY THANKS DAVE

....is there a lot of freeplay...fore and aft with the crank ? There might be the drum beat.

....just a guess. You might be right about rubber in the main needle threads.
