Status: offline 		We have a few laying around and I just thought I would help you guys out. I havent found another commercial engine out there that will perform as well as the Echo and I have tried them all. Ryobi, weed eater, stihl, ect. I am new to RCU so I dont know how to attach pictures. I wanted to show you a step by step procedure with pictures. The engine weight I quoted was with a battery ignition. With flywheel and coil its 3lbs 2 ounces. BTW the maneto version is what I fly for cross country events.

Status: offline 		A 30cc powerhouse sounds like a winning ticket. I like the Poulan chainsaws as they are well built and powerful, but everything smaller than the 46cc ends up weighing about the same as the 46cc, so I saw no point of converting a smaller Poulan. Might as well do the 46cc if weight is the same. BUT... I would really like a lightweight gasser that'll do a 1.20 aerobat justice, which is why I've been eyeing the Echo 30cc.

Sure I can get a lightweight made-for-RC gasser like the ZDZs or MVVS, but conversions are just so much more fun - even if most of the work is done by somebody else.

Status: offline 		first you need a useable pic, 72dpi resolution jpeg at no more than 700x700 pixels is good

go to "attach file" , click the browse button , get the name of your pic to show up in the "file name"bar and click the open button

i'm basically computer illiterate so the only help i can offer is what works for me.

for scanned pics i use photoshop, my bro showed me the basics .

my pc-cam takes snapshots that are sendable as is but these are low qual and don't show good detail.

You need a photo editing program to be able to crop an image down to 700 X 700 mp or 70kb file size. There are several programs available, but the only one I am familiar with came as a freebie with my scanner. It is Ulead Photoimpact SE.

If you have something special you want to post, send it to me at:

[EMAIL=wvarn1957@ev1.net]wvarn1957@ev1.net[/EMAIL] and I will edit it to the proper size for posting on RCU.

Is this what your Echo looked like prior to paring off the trimmer parts??? This trimmer is labeled Tiger, but has a Kioritz engine and looks identical to the Echos.

Status: offline 		Kioritz is the OEM for many different brands of lawn care power equipment, including their own brand. Never heard of Tiger, though. Must be an older brand name.

Status: offline 		volture, like volfy said , there gobs of companies that use the echo/kioritz trimmer engines. over here pro gardeners call them the "rolls-royce" of small trimmers, even very old ones just keep going. yours looks like it has a 4 bolt case and a 3 bolt starter housing which is opposite of mine. the 25.4cc has a 4bolt case and 4 bolt starter. otherwise your trimmer looks the same, identical throttle linkage and flywheel housing and woud be a breeze to convert.

Status: offline 		JPEG's can be resized with PAINT within windows. Start Paint and load the image you wish to resize. Click the "IMAGE" tab and select "stretch/skew" from the drop down list. From the pop up box, fill in the vertical and horizontal fields as 50% or any number you choose under 100 to shrink that percentage. after you are satisfied re save as a JPEG.

Photo shop works better but not everyone has it.

Status: offline 		You can do that with paint also. When you are done editing the image, click "SAVE AS", enter the file name you wish, then select the file type from the pull down menu under the file name box.

Status: offline 		Hey guys I am doing a new conversion hop up on the Echo 23.6cc engine. I have installed a crank shaft and piston from a 25.4cc engine in the 23.6cc crankcase and cylinder with the timing mods I mentioned before. This new crank gives the engine a 2mm stroke increase which is just right after you modify the piston to give maximum compression and now it will still travel down to the bottom edge of the exhaust port. I hope to gain as much as 400 rpm more with this set up as compaired to the standard stroke 23.6cc engine which is turning a 17x8 APC at 8500 rpm.

Status: offline 		You could do the same mods to the 25.4cc engine and gain power over the stock form. In my experience no mods I did to the 25.4cc equaled the power of the 23.6cc. When you drop the cylinder down to raise the compression you are also giving up your port time area. You gain it back by cutting the exhaust and intake but your transfers have lost area. With a stroke increase you can get this back plus gain some cc's and power.

Status: offline 		Is Echo the only brand of equipment with the echo engines? What models of equipment have the best engines for conversions? I'm looking for something comparable to a 46cc poulan. Something that can be used with the stock ignition preferably.

The engine came from a heavy duty trimmer. It has a bore of 1.492" and a stroke of 1.25". By my calculations that works out to a displacement of 2.18 ci or 35.7 cc. On the back flange of the cylinder casting it has "38"

Status: offline 		Not sure which engine that is from but I can see no reason why it couldnt be used with the same mods as the 23.6cc engine. Looks like the 25.4cc engine. Do you know how old it is or what carb was on it?
