Piloted by Oblt. Klaus Faber in early 1945, RED 13 was captured at Ainring Airfield in May of that year. Used solely as topcover for ME-262's during takeoff. German markings translate into "if we go in, both of us will cry", an old saying used by Faber during his earlier years flying a BF-109 in N. Africa. Unique feature of this aircraft is the striking red underbelly w/ white stripes, painted such to allow quick recognition by inexperienced German artillery troops (Feb. 45', kids basically).
Model specifics: Built in 5.5 months from Meister planes, 103" wingpan, 98" long fuselage (trailer req'd), 35 lbs, 3W-70i, CJM gear, .75 oz cloth, West Systems epoxy resin, automotive enamels (6 RLM shades), full panel lines, flush rivets, Dynamic Balsa cockpit.
Still a virgin...Lousy weather in Florida this month!

Great looking plane Nick! The German birds always have the baddest looking schemes and you did a really nice job on that one. With the figures scaled so perfectly to the plane, I thought it was an actual photograph when I first saw the picture (but then I guess it wouldn't be in color. )
Looks Great! Russ.

Carey, Chris, Vic... you guy's offered a tremendous amount of valuable information throughout the project. THANKS GUYS!! Only hope that with those long gear struts and the angle of retraction, I don't encounter gear collasping problems.
The pilot figures were purchased at Toy's R' Us over a year ago. Their marketed through 20th Century Toys, and at the time had a web site. The price was too good - $9.99 each, so you can see why I purchased four figures. Detailing is supurb, especially the General, but a little heavy for the cockpit. The weaponry was purchased separately.
I'm having difficulty locating some Jap guys for the Zero. Evidently Toys R' Us continually changes their inventory.

There is a new Dragon figure Japanese pilot that looks very good. I have the GI Joe one and although it looks good, it is no comparison to the Dragon figure. If you need one, try www.pyramidhobbies.com and talk with Sidney. He had them in stock last time I was in the store. Tommy
BTW, nice 190, I've got my heart set on a ME-109 and have an Eric Hartmann figure to supplement the cockpit.
