I'm building my new predator II with a TT.40 and was wondering whether a flat or square battery pack would fit better. I want to position the battery pack in such a was as to limit the amount of lead required to balance my plane. I built the same plane with a gms .25 and put the battery pack as far forward as possible to and still had to add a lot of lead. With the .40 sized motor will I still need to position as far forward as possible?

Personally, I prefer the flat packs, but have used the square packs also. Either will work fine.

One more question, what are the rules for installing the battery and receiver? Does the battery have to be secured in foam or can I hot glue it to the fuselage. My local field only has three races planned this year so I dont want my plane disqualified.

If someone can post a picture of their setup it would help a bunch.

No rules that I am aware of in regards to how the battery and reciever are mounted, but I wouldn't suggest hot gluing it to the fuse. There is just too much vibration for that to be a good long term solution. Foam is best, but I have gotten by with just using industrial Velcro only to the fuse, but if you do this, make sure the receiver or battery is touching nothing other than the velcro.

The picture shows my battery against the side of the fuselage. Very simple, easily movable. Tank is on the C.G.

You do have the battery in front of the tank, yes?
